Man'ari Eredar

The Burning Legion

Commander of the Legion Armies

Alive (Currently in the Nether)

Archimonde was one of the leaders of the Eredar, serving alongside Kil'jaeden and Velen on the planet Argus. He, along with Kil'jaeden were tempted by the dark titan Sargeras and were given vast power in exchange for undying loyalty. As a loyal subject of the Burning Legion, he swiftly gained prominence within the demon army, becoming the right hand of the fallen titan and the commander of the Burning Legion armies, a task which he successfully carried out for many thousands of years.

He has appeared on Azeroth twice within known history. Both times in which he has appeared has resulted in a large loss of life and cataclysmic destruction. Despite the superior nature of the Burning Legion armies, he has been defeated both times by mortal armies and powerful heroes.

During the War against the Iron Horde, Archimonde was summoned by Gul'dan to lead the Burning Legion forces as they attempted to conquer Draenor. While more direct with his attacks compared to Kil'jaeden, he underestimated the combined power of the heroes of Azeroth and Draenor and was defeated within Hellfire Citadel, but not before punishing Gul'dan who desperately tried to escape before he could be captured.

Despite his defeat, he has not been permanently killed. As he is a demon and tied to the twisting nether, his soul returned to that place after his death at Hellfire Citadel. Given the persistence of the Burning Legion armies, it is only a matter of time before he resurfaces once again.
