The Army of Rheingold, also known as Arm Renosorail, is the military force of the Principality of Fjallidh, the army was founded by Thengill Eldur (Ardrigh Aodhan Pettnaurcha), long before the founding of the Arathorian Empire. The army was originally formed to order to protect the people of Fjorikland from the threat of Trollish raiders. The Army of the Rheingold, has also been known for constructing roads and bridges when marching, they are also known as renowned explorers and merchants. The majority of the army consists of soldiers who are decedents of a long forgotten warrior aristocracy.
Membership[]
Traditionally, the Army of the Rheingold's consisted of the first and second child of a family who belonged to the Fjoric Warrior Aristocracy. However in modern times any member of a Fjoric family may join.
Womenfolk were permitted to join the army, and served under the same conditions as the menfolk. The womenfolk of the army were given the title "Shieldmaiden", as they were believed to bare the strength and wisdom of the Waredr, angelic like creatures who shepherd the dead to the Realm of Fol and eventually into the Great Hall of Valhalas.
The only requirement for one to be a member of the Army of the Rheingold, was for one to be of Fjoric or Daonaidh decent, from either the father or mother.
Organisation[]
The army is broken down into three groups The Painted Ones, The Fjallidh Warriors, and the Disciples of Buisleach.
The Painted Ones
The Painted Ones, are comprised by the strongest men and women of the of the principality, they are considered the elite of the Army of the Rheingold. They serve as the Prince's personal guard. They are rarely seen wearing any armour, and often charge into battle nude, their bodies are ritual painted, in red, blue, purple, orange, white, yellow, or black, in patterns often seen in Daonaidh Stones.
The Fjallidh Warriors[]
The Fjallidh Warriors, consist of cavalrymen, footmen, and berserkers. The cavalrymen, ride upon brown Fjordic Horses, bred just for the army from Fornhal and Wallen. They often wear hide amours, and wear wolf fur cloaks and iron helms, along with spears, and shields. The footmen, also known as the Upland Swordsmen, wear mail or hide armour, accompanied with a bear fur cloaks, and longswords.
Disciples of Buisleach[]
The Disciples of Buisleach, are arcanist, who follow the teachings of the Sage Buisleach, a human mage who was one of the Hundred. They are easily spotted by their brown red robes, which have the words "Ai.Fero.Ba'thalas.An-Th'Busileach." written in Fjoric Runes on the back of the robes. The Disciples of Buisleach also serve as the intelligence division of the army.
