Bishop Qienna Parker, in partnership with the residents of Wheland's Isle, decided to form the Azeroth Missions Society in memory of Brother Jacob. The goal of the organisation is to spread the message of the Light to people who haven't heard and to give both spiritual and physical aid.
The Azeroth Missions Society is primarily based on Wheland's Isle and the island residents provide the finances needed to operate the organisation. They do so through various businesses and the gem mine in the island. In return, the Azeroth Missions Society governs the island and provides as good a quality of life as possible.
Azeroth Missions Council[]
The Azeroth Missions Society is governed by the Mother Superior and the Azeroth Missions Council. The Council makes all major decisions in regards to leadership, finances, the island, other missionary settlements and missionary assignments. The Mother Superior has the power to veto any Council decisions but chooses not to, unless circumstances forces her hand.
Council members can be elected one of two ways:
- Direct Appointment - The Mother Superior invites an individual to join the Council
- Nomination - Any member of the Azeroth Missions Society may nominate a member, in writing, for the Council. The existing Council members vote on the nomination.
Senior Council[]
The Mother Superior has three Senior Council members who act as advisers and speak on the Mother Superior's behalf in her absence for duties only the Mother Superior can perform (such as founding new settlements, church relations, promotions). Decisions made on the Mother Superior's behalf must be voted on unanimously by the Senior Council.
Society Membership[]
Azeroth Missions Society members serve in one of three recognised capacities:
- Resident - Residents of the Society settlements contribute financially to the running of the Society. They are otherwise free to carry out their lives as they see fit, under the governing Azeroth Missions Council. They may participate in Missions works, but are not expected to.
- Monastic - Monastics are long term residents of the Monastery of Brother Jacob. The Monastery is not a college for future priests, but rather a place of communal living for those who wish to live a humble life that brings them closer to the Light in service and meditation. Like Residents, they are not expected to participate in Mission works. The Monastery provides long term medical care and accepts visitors who wish to visit. Visitors are welcome to take part in the daily cycle of the Monastery, but are not expected to.
- Missionary - Missionaries are the hands and feet of the Azeroth Missions Society. They go out on both short and long term mission assignments in order to further the Light's message. Missionaries can put forth ideas for assignments and projects for the Council to approve. They are expected to participate in Mission works unless they are on approved leave.
