Grand Admiral Barean Westwind of Kul Tiras was once a prominent member of the Scarlet Crusade. He was part of the Scarlet Fleet's disastrous expedition to Northrend, and was lost off the Frozen Coast. A large statue was erected in his honor in the Hall of Champions, located in the Scarlet Monastery in the Tirisfal Glades.
In 29 LC, it was discovered by Scarlet Onslaught forces that the Admiral was in fact alive; he joined the Onslaught in its invasion of Northrend and soon became its de facto leader after the death of High General Brigitte Abbendis. He vanished soon after the establishment of Onslaught Harbor in Icecrown, along with several of his lieutenants, believed by the Scarlets to have been the victims of a series of assassinations by the Knights of the Ebon Blade while they claim him to have been long dead, his body used as a shell by the dreadlord Mal'ganis. His legacy, however, lives on in the Raven Conclave, an offshoot sect of the faith of the Light of which he was the founder, chief prophet, and even object of worship.
