Braygar Paleaxe, formerly known as Braygar Flintfire, is the Grand Huscarl of Clan Anvilrune of Dun Runestein, Agent of the Modan Spellbreak Agency, former National Senator of the Wetlands for the Assembly of the Three Hammers, and former General of the Argent Crusade.
Early Life[]
Birth and Origin[]
Braygar Flintfire was born the 15th of October, 181 AKH in Khern Badur, a small settlement in Loch Modan. His parents, Rayghur Flintfire and Neyva Snowbeard, were both of Bronzebeard origin and the leaders of their small clan. In his youth, he trained with his father to one day lead the Flintfire Clan, prominent hunters in the area.
The Fall of Clan Flintfire[]
When Braygar was 54, trolls came from the northern border of Loch Modan and attacked the settlement of Khern Badur. Braygar was out hunting a bear that had terrorized several settlements in the region. Upon his return, he found the settlement in ruins, the trolls having left no survivors. Braygar left the ruined settlement behind, seeking vengeance. Eight days later, Braygar would set fire to the troll encampment in the dead of night, killing many of the unsuspecting troll families and sending others running North. Along his pursuit, he met Rolt Harlin, a Paladin of the Knights of the Silver Hand. Rolt assisted Braygar in hunting down the remaining trolls, which led to Braygar agreeing to travel with Rolt to Stratholme.
Joining the Knights of the Silver Hand[]
The Second and Third War[]
Once in Stratholme, Rolt convinced Braygar to join a, at the time, fairly new order, The Knights of the Silver Hand. When the Second War broke out, Braygar and some of the newer recruits were kept to their trainings, denied combat until their skills were honed. Braygar resented the order at first for this, but under the teachings of Rolt, adopted a stoic mindset.
Third War and the Title 'Paleaxe'[]
Aftermath[]
After the demise of Arthas Menethil, Braygar would choose to stay in Northrend as a paladin of the Argent Crusade. Over time he distanced himself from the Order, eventually hanging up his tabard and settling with the Frostborn in Northrend. There, he would continue work to defend Northrend from the threats still present.
The Fourth War[]
Return to the Eastern Kingdoms[]
After a decade spent attempting to rebuild and fortify various locations in Northrend, Braygar returned to the Eastern Kingdoms in preparation to join the Fourth War. Before he could see any actual battle, though, High Overlord Varok Saurfang had fallen in mak'gora to Sylvannas, de-escalating the war. Instead of returning to Northrend, Braygar chose the spend the next few years staying and helping the people of Khaz Modan, taking up general mercenary work.
The Modan Spellbreak Agency[]
Recruitment[]
While in Ironforge, Braygar was approached by General Warden Keenord Deepfall. Keenord was actively recruiting for the Modan Spellbreak Agency, an outfit contracted by the Assembly of the Three Hammers and the Alliance High Command. Braygar would weigh this for some time before finally signing a contract to join the Agency.
The Dragon Isles[]
Within weeks, Braygar (along with other Watchmen of the Agency) sailed to the Dragon Isles to support the research effort. Upon arriving at the Agency's Azure Span encampment, Braygar found himself as part of an interrogation of a prisoner, Ostorn Keenmane. After ill-words were spoken of Queen-Regent Moira Thaurissan, Braygar broke both of the prisoner's legs. This act, along with pushing back the beast known as 'The Decayed', earned Braygar a promotion to Agent. Over the next several months, Braygar would prove instrumental in pushing back the forces of Wyrmbone, a Primalist enemy of the Agency, until he was finally defeated.
Aftermath[]
Braygar returned to Khaz Modan almost immediately upon the defeat of enemy forces. There, he would settle down in the Anvilrune Thanedom of Dun Runestein. He was promoted to ARC Operative and continued his training with the Watchmen.
Senator of the Wetlands[]
After the sudden death of Wetlands Senator Casker Hildebrandt, Braygar was approached by Stone Envoy Galvynn Thulmane II about running for election for the senate of the Assembly of the Three Hammers. Braygar, a regular in attendance at Assembly meetings and having now spent some time in the Wetlands, agreed. On the 11th of October, 270 AKH, Braygar was sworn in as the National Senator for the Wetlands. During his time in office, Braygar would establish new trade routes, branch out programs that would extend the skill sets of Wetlands citizens, support in the reclamation of the nearby city of Gilnaes, continue relations with the Wetlands embassy of Elves, and personally take charge in bringing various criminals to justice, including leading a small group that investigated and hunted down the killer of the previous Senator. On the 5th of May, 271 AKH, Braygar would resign from his short time in office to focus on his duties as Grand Huscarl.
Grand Huscarl of Clan Anvilrune[]
After a training session with several Agents and Watchmen, Fjorgan Anvilstein, leader of the Modan Spellbreak Agency and Thane-Regent of Dun Runestein and the Anvilrunes, approached Braygar about becoming the first Grand Huscarl of the Anvilrune Clan, whom his daughter Alygra was set to inherit at her coming-of-age. Braygar approached the Thane-Heriess Alygra Anvilrune about the offer, and was made Grand Huscarl.
While the Modan Spellbreak Agency was encamped in the Badlands fighting the threat, 'The Sons of Fire', Braygar would spend most of his time in Dun Runestein, investigating a potential threat from within and supporting the common folk.
During the defense of a siege on Dun Runestein Braygar sustained injuries, including the loss of his right hand, which was immediately cauterized after a short retreat. Mechagnomes in Ironforge were able to construct him a prosthetic, though the prosthetic limited his right hand's movement to a simple opening and closing of his fist.
