The County of Crystal Lake is a modestly sized titled fief located in central Elwynn Forest, and is mostly known for containing the large, namesake Crystal Lake. It is bordered by the Duchy of Goldshire to the west, the Barony of Lontshire to the South, and the Duchy of Northshire to the north.
The last Count of Crystal Lake died during the Orcish Invastion of Elwynn, with no remaining heirs. The County has since then been under Crown Rule. There are many noblemen and women who claim the County of Crystal Lake, either by relation of blood to the former ruling family or by forged documents. With the recent handing over of the County of Eastvale, many are starting to expect that the King will give away the County of Crystal Lake.
Governance[]
As a fiefdom of the Kingdom of Stormwind, sovereignty rests with the current King of Stormwind. However, all powers of legislative and executive decision are devolved to the Count of Crystal Lake, who acts as the head ruler with autocratic power by decree.
While on paper the baron acts as autocrat, in practice, the count's powers have been voluntarily devolved to certain offices and districts, limiting the direct workload on the ruler.
Rosielyn Seyfried acts as the official head of state. Albert Wilton acts as the head of government. Daily legislative acts are handled by the House of Magnates, a body of both elected and appointed peoples that rules over both the county and the Barony of Lontshire.
