Dun Boldihr is a settlement located within the Ashen Coast under the leadership of Nulric Ironcrag. It is a town primarily dedicated to mining and blacksmithing, and its population consists only of dwarves. The construction of Dun Boldihr was approved by the Council of the Three Hammers as a project to see if dwarves of all three clans could live together peacefully.

While the original intention was to recruit miners and blacksmiths, Nulric has discovered that many dwarves of all crafts and talents have come to live in Dun Boldihr. Many of the dwarves living in the settlement are veterans experienced in combat, which allows Nulric to marshal his own dwarven fighting force to assist the Blades. Although they are not part of the Blades or a vassal of Gilneas, Dun Boldihr has assisted the Ashen Coast in expelling external threats, such as the Burning Legion and the Forsaken.

The settlement was moved from The Bite after worry that the region was too dangerous. After finding no suitable place within Gilneas otherwise, Dun Boldihr was allowed to settle in The Icecrest Mountains just south of the Reach and Range, with its old location becoming the town of Fargath's Claim.

It's here that the dwarves of Dun Boldihr became fast friends with the town of Oxevik, establishing direct trade and assisting each other with military support. Even though Nulric has made his stance clear that the dwarves are only allies of Gilneas, he has also stressed the importance of aiding Oxevik in times of need since the Icecrest Mountains are far from the Ashen Coast.

Life in Dun Boldihr[]

As one of the most northern-reaching dwarf holds of the Eastern Kingdoms, Dun Boldihr's populace consists of strong, hardy dwarves from each Council race. In the city, most people expected to know how to fight; even a merchant should know how to keep an axe or mace handy when the need arises. Constant training drills keep its soldiers in disciplined, fighting form. Laws are not far-reaching in the mountains, so Nulric enforces his own brand of "frontier justice", punishing bandits and raiders with extreme prejudice. Prostitution, drug use, violence and other vices are not permitted within the city's walls; those caught committing too many crimes are exiled and sent away. Though sometimes strict, life is fair and safe under Nulric's leadership.

The largest industries in Dun Boldihr are smithing and mining. In exchange for ores, gems, and metals, the dwarves receives the exports of other regions in order to prosper. Golem-smithing has become a more popular industry, but Dun Boldihr keeps the golems exclusively to itself.
