His Majesty's Naval Base Dusk Bay is one of the only remaining active naval bases found in Gilneas. It is home to the Northern Gilnean Command Fleet (NGCOMFLT) and a part of the Gilnean Naval Surface Command.
Dusk Bay, while not the largest of bases, holds large Major Fleet Unit capabilities and is large enough to take on Carrier-class vessels.
History[]
Early History[]
Originally, Dusk Bay was an empty bay with little fishing or economical advantages, but held excellent access to the sea. Found by the initial entrance of the Northgate River and the edge of the Storm Coast, Dusk Bay was a perfect location for a Major Shore Establishment, and so was later constructed by the order of the then-High Admiral of Gilneas, Boris Keel, whose descendant would eventually command the Fleet housed there.
Greymane Wall[]
When the Greymane Wall was erected, the base was dismissed and liquidated, later becaming mere shadows of it's former self and fell into major disrepair. When the Forsaken invaded Gilneas, the former port was subject to large numbers of raids, even acting as a temporary port for the Forsaken Navy at times.
Thankfully, not long after, Dusk Bay was reclaimed by Night Elven vessels who took back what forces were housed inside and freed the region, which ultimately aided in the Gilnean Exodus.
Northern Gilnean Command Fleet[]
Several years afterwards, following the Re-dedication of Task Force 42 into what is now the Northern Gilnean Command Fleet, the Admiralty also commissioned for the Fleet's initial home to be reconstructed and returned to it's purposes. As a result, Dusk Bay acts as the primary Home Port for the NGCOMFLT and aids it (And by conjunction, the Admiral of the Fleet) in it's task for Maritime Surface Warfare as well as additional Fleet Commander tasks.
Facilities[]
Dusk Bay holds a variety of facilities including a small parade ground, several dockyards and a dry dock used for maintaining vessels. The base also holds two long parallel buildings utilized as barracks and a command center within the direct epicenter of the base.
Currently[]
Currently, HMNB Dusk Bay is home to the Northern Gilnean Commander Fleet and operates as the main anti-piracy and border protection unit within the Gilneas archipelago region.
