We, my brethren, are creatures of hatred and anger, forged by the Divine to execute Its most holy will. Our contempt is necessary and we must not succumb to the seductive whispers of others. Nae, instead we must lean upon each other, to form the foundation of our order and lead it to greatness. Look to thy fellow soldier of faith and harken to the sound of the Light’s glorious call, for it is the sweetest sound.

–Sir Alider 'the Dauntless'

The Order of the Bleak Spire is a band of zealous knights, priests, and inquisitors under their First Knight, Sir Alider 'the Dauntless.' Composed of primarily humans hailing from the fallen kingdoms, the Order seeks nothing but the glorification of the Light through war. Though not a part of the Scarlet Crusade, the Bleak Spire does offer refuge to former members.

History[]

The Order of the Bleak Spire was formed following the Second War by Baldrick 'the Black,' former Lord of the Black Peak. Alongside him, seven knights of Lordaeron, Stromgarde, and Alterac, who would go on to become the Guardians of the Spire.

The Order would go on to serve the faithful in the interbellum period, acting as protectors for those traveling between holy sites, as well as protectors of relics from the early age of humanity. At the outbreak of the Third War, the Bleak Spire mobilized to the defense of the kingdoms of man against the Scourge. Though the knights of the Spire were skilled fighters, the insurmountable strength of the undead caused a high number of casualties within the Order, including its founder, Baldrick 'the Black.' As the war continued on, casualties continued to mount until the Spire was reduced to a shadow of its former strength. Those that remained fled from Lordaeron or took up guerilla warfare in the forests of Silverpine.

The Bleak Spire was considered defunct until, under the leadership of Sir Serell 'the Dour,' the banner of the order was raised again during the outbreak of the Third Legion Invasion of Azeroth.

Most recently, the Order retook their traditional home of Black Peak. It is believed that a coup was launched against the last First Knight of the Spire, Sir Alider 'the Dauntless'.

Ideologies[]

We must acknowledge that idolaters and heretics exist within our society, bent on the destruction of the foundations on which we have built our faith. We must too recognize the existence of those among us who feign holiness. These are the wicked for whom the Light demands justice, and for whom we, as the blessed of the Light, must exact justice upon.

–Book of Purity'

The Order practices its own form of the Faith of the Holy Light, known as the Cult of the First Revelation, believing that Humans and Dwarves were the Light's chosen champions. This has led to a great level of distrust for any outside races by members of the Bleak Spire. Races such as the Ren'dorei are considered wicked and unrepentant under the Codex of Faith.

While the Bleak Spire accepts the Church of the Holy Light, it does not agree with several of the liberal value that the Church presents. The Spire subscribes to the idea of the corruption of the Church following the betrayal of Benedictus and Farthing. This has led to tension between the orthodoxy and the religious leadership of the Bleak Spire.

Likewise, the Bleak Spire is highly skeptical of the Grand Alliance, following the acceptance of the Knights of the Ebon Blade and the Ren'dorei. Though not openly hostile towards the forces of King Anduin Wrynn, they are believed to be incapable and corrupted.

Finally, the Bleak Spire is openly hostile towards the New Horde despite the current ceasefire. In particular, the Order sees the Forsaken and Orcs as vile creations of the Void and will not hesitate to kill them on sight. This has led to friction between the Grand Alliance and members of the Bleak Spire.
