Saoirse Áine Buckner (Pronounced: Sear-sha Awn-ya), is a lovely young woman from Gilneas. She served for a while as a Greyguard, later joining the Uncrowned, then she found her way into the 7th Legion's forces, then onto Revendreth. (Saoírse in game.)

History[]

Early years[]

Saoirse Buckner was born to Jocelyn and Brendan Buckner in Duskhaven. Her name is old Gilnean, Saoirse from her great-grandmother on her father's side, Áine from her grandmother on her mother's side. She was always a little more tomboyish, though she liked pretty things. She started play fighting with local boys which turned into training alongside them. Though her parents initially discouraged the roughhousing and training, they came to accept that Saoirse wasn't going to back down from it.

Once Saoirse turned sixteen, her parents began the task of finding their daughter a suitable match for marriage to help them rise in status. Unfortunately for them, Saoirse set about sabotaging every attempt. She managed to destroy five engagements before they gave up on matching her. Her mother fell ill, passing away a few months after her seventeenth birthday. Brendan ended up giving in to Saoirse's desires to be a guard, finding someone who would give her a chance.

Greyguard / Fall of Gilneas[]

At the age of eighteen, she was inducted into the Greyguard. However, it wasn't to last. Only a matter of months later, the wall was broken and worgen and Forsaken alike began their assaults on the city. She did what she could, though she was bitten while attempting to defend the city from worgen. She escaped to Teldrassil alongside others, though the ship she, Queen Mia, and Princess Tess were on, Elune's Radiance, sank, nearly taking them all with it before rescue could come.

Saoirse stayed in Darnassus with her people often, though she followed the Greymanes between it and Stormwind. She focused on trying to protect Princess Tess Greymane, though she rarely interacted with the young woman.

She mostly stuck around in Stormwind, as the royal family didn't wander far. She stayed with them through the events on Pandaria and Draenor, just moving when they did.

The Uncrowned[]

Saocloak

When the Legion came, she followed Tess Greymane's lead, joining the Uncrowned. Though she never held any position of command, she did what she could to make connections within the ranks and to ensure the Legion's downfall. She grew quite fond of the motley group of people, learning from pirates, spys, and assassins alike. Despite the initial issues with SI:7, she did her best to gain ties with them, as well.

She spent some time in both Stormheim and Suramar. In Stormheim, while working on Genn Greymane's hunt for the Banshee Queen, she met a blood elf priestess, Calyanda, and the two became close, still keeping in touch after the Legion's downfall.

In Suramar, Saoirse helped locate intelligence on those in power and helped refugees to safety. She did not participate in the main assault on the Nighthold, but did everything else she could, often found on the side of the city with the highest concentration of demons. She grew somewhat fond of the Nightborne she met within the Dusklily Rebellion and was rather disheartened when they joined the Horde--- though she certainly understood after seeing the ways Tyrande Whisperwind and the Night Elves treated them in comparison with the treatment by the Blood Elves.

The Fourth War[]

Though she still considered herself a member of the Uncrowned, she was quick to respond when the Horde began their assault in Darkshore. She went with Mia to Darnassus, assisting in the evacuation. She received a few burns, but made it out with her life. Barely waiting to heal, she joined the assault on Lordaeron and signed up with the 7th Legion to bring justice to the Horde and to Sylvanas Windrunner. She split her time well, going wherever she was told. While stationed in various places, she took a liking to Drustvar, something about it reminding her of her old home in Gilneas.

Saoirse was on one of the ships that went after Nathanos Blightcaller, following the flagship, the Wind's Redemption. When the ocean opened up before them, she had frozen terribly, barely able to make a scramble enough to hold onto something, having been in ship wreck once before. Though she survived the collapse, it did injure her within an inch of her life. Luckily, she was found unconscious and revived by the Ankoan people. She wasn't a whole lot of help while in Nazjatar, her recovery taking a little time.

She was among those who answered the call for what was to be a final assault on Orgrimmar and watched, alongside the others, as Varok Saurfang was killed in an unfair Mak'gora. Though she holds some unease in a peace with the Horde, she has never hated all Horde for the atrocities committed by Sylvanas and Garrosh.

She became a veteran of the Fourth War and stepped back from the 7th Legion and the army life. She used her newfound unemployment to begin regularly drinking in Stormwind and finding what pleasure she could from life. She spent some time working as a bouncer for The Sightless Eyes Tavern in the lull after the war, but after a the tavern changed hands a couple of times, it all fell apart. She met a young man named Tristan during this time and fell hard... unfortunately, he ended up disappearing on her, not ready for commitment.

The Shadowlands[]

A tentative peace doesn't help much when death rises against the world of the living. Saoirse was quick to fight in Duskwood as the Scourge began running rampant. She stuck with that until a new portal was established. A portal to the realm of death, the Shadowlands themselves. Her response was immediate as she signed herself up to go through and aid those beyond.

She found herself in Revendreth, a place that reminded her a bit of a... redder Gilneas. At least, that would be what she told herself. After being dragged into the middle of what seemed to be (yet another) civil war, she found herself aligned with Prince Renethal and his Venthyr. Most of her time is spent there besides when little she allows for going back to Stormwind. She was also briefly affiliated with a group known as Custodes Vitae before a difference in opinions split her away from them. Following the Custodes, she join The Ambrose Arcana as a part-time performer, acting as an acrobat and sharpshooter. This, however, was also short lived as the circus collapsed upon the death of its founder Ada Ambrose.

Saoirse began disappearing frequently. She would be gone from Stormwind for months at a time. Most of her time was spent in the Shadowlands, even setting foot in Zerith Mortis, but once the Jailer fell, she began running again. Much of her time running was spent in Kalimdor.

Returning to Stormwind, she nearly immediately met and clicked with a man named Landell Kalson, a knight who began to serve a Duchess within the Duchy of Darrowmere as her blacksmith. Unfortunately, though they made plans to marry and Saoirse was ready and willing to give up her claims for him, he became so involved in the Duchy that the two ended up separating due to his constant absence from her life.

Appearance & Voice[]

Sao1

Saoirse is a lovely woman. She stands at around 5'4 and has a petite frame, though she is built for flexibility and speed when she needs it. She is muscled, though leanly. Her long black hair cascades past her shoulders, though it is messily pulled back into a bun during fights. Soft, chocolate brown eyes are seen in either form. She tends to dress casually or in armor, but has been know to sport beautiful robes.

As for weapons, Saoirse carries two swords that have been enchanted to feel the perfect weight for her. She also carries on her person a pistol enchanted to never run out of ammo, some small and thin blades hidden in her sleeves, a ring dagger in her boot, and couple of throwing knives in her jacket. All are safely stored to cause no harm to herself.

As a worgen, Saoirse stands at 6'6, still a little short for a worgen. Those eyes are still visible. Her black mane of hair is slicked back and her fur is sable tri-color. She rarely uses this form, shifting into it for special occasions and mid-fight.

When it comes to piercings, scars, and tattoos, Saoirse has one tattoo, a large tree covering the burn mark on her side. She does have double studs in both of her earlobes, however. There's a fairly large burn scar covering her lower right side, hip, and upper thigh. Her left shoulder bears a deeply scarred, brutal bite mark.

Saoirse has a strong, commanding tone to her voice and a proper accent. It's honestly close to regal. Though she tends to hold a lightheartedness to her words, she can easily switch into more authoritative tones.

Relationships[]

Jocelyn and Brendan Buckner[]

Saoirse's loving parents. Truly, they were good to her. Brendan had a title, but no lands nor power, his family line having fallen on hard times. Jocelyn had a fortune, her father having made it through good bets with mining and agriculture. Their marriage was one of strategy, bringing together fortune and title. Still, the house had little recognition, their titles little worth mentioning. When they had a daughter, the goal was to marry her up, raise her station to one they couldn't have. Though Jocelyn was dead set on Saoirse becoming a perfect lady, the little girl was never that. Brendan doted on his girl, never able to say no.

Her Friends[]

She's collected a wide array of friends from various places. Her one friend left over from her time in Gilneas is Caine Holloway, a Harvest Witch turned Druid of the Grove. As for Stormwind, she met Arkayla Farkas in the Blue Recluse and is quite fond of the woman. She also met Elian Dawnsong during the Fourth War, giving him a few tips and dragging him into Sightless Eyes with her. Some friends left over from her days with Custodes Vitae are Jurayle Townend, Elyssia Dawnshield, and Filarick Barret. She's also formed a bond with several monsters including Telsyr Crowsbane and her 'son' Loyalty.
