The House of Silverlaine was a Gilnean noble house whose lands consisted of the town of Pyrewood Village and the keep overlooking it. They were slain by the crazed archmage Arugal, and many were raised into undeath including the last head of the house, Baron Silverlaine. The majority of those raised were granted peace after the deaths of Arugal and of Lord Vincent Godfrey and his followers, but some believe many still haunt the ruins of the keep. Though distant, the House of Silverlaine can trace themselves back to the son of King Baelic I, Sammith Silverlaine. He warred with his brother, Aderic II in the Twins War and lost. Rather than be executed or banished, Sammith was placed under the servitude of one of the Marcher Lords of Arevass. The family never returned to its prominence.
Towards modern times, the family watched over Pyrewood Village from within Shadowfang Keep. Unlike that of Ambermill, which later found its self annexed into the Magocracy of Dalaran, Pyrewood retained its Gilnean loyalties until the eventual demise of Baron Silverlaine by Archmage Arugal. Following Arugal's ascension to leadership and the death of the last Silverlaine, the town remained relatively peaceful within the day times but at night would transform into ravenous worgen that would attack all who would approach. Disturbed by their violent death and the seizing of their holdings, the Silverlaine family and their servants live out their lives as though they were still alive. After Arugal's death and the clearance of Shadowfang Keep, the Silverlaines found no peace. Once more disturbed by the sudden intrusion of Lord Vincent Godfrey and his undead cohorts, Baron Silverlaine and his followers rose from the dead, acting out their lives as though they had not ended.
Though Lord Godfrey was inevitably slain, with conflicting reports on what party, Shadowfang was abandoned and taken up as the headquarters of various different orders over time. As it stands, the keep remains abandoned; though reports of wandering adventurers state the restless spirits of the House still yet haunt the ruins, unable to find rest.
