Lordaeron was the northern most human Kingdom on the subcontinent of Lordaeron. Under the leadership of Terenas Menethil II, Lordaeron was responsible for leading the Alliance of Lordaeron against the Orcish Horde during the Second War. The Kingdom, along with most of the north lands of the Lordaeron subcontinent, fell due to the Plague of Undeath.
History[]
Although some claim its name is supposedly derived from a combination of words stemming from the human, dwarvish, and elvish languages: "lorn" (in Dwarven) meaning "land", "daer" (in Common) meaning "people", and "ronae" (in Thalassian) meaning peaceful, official historical texts state that it is named after Lordain, one of Emperor Thoradin's Generals and "brothers".
Founding[]

Kingdom of Lordaeron[]
Orcish Invasion of Azeroth[]
During the Second War, Lordaeron provided refuge to Lord Anduin Lothar and the people of Stormwind under his charge following that kingdom's destruction at the end of the First War. During the Second War, Lordaeron spearheaded the Alliance's campaign against the Orcish Horde of Orgrim Doomhammer. Lordaeron was almost entirely destroyed as a result of Prince Arthas Menethil's betrayal and subsequent invasion by the Undead Scourge during the Third War.

Current Status[]
“ | "Here lies King Terenas Menethil II -- Last True King of Lordaeron.
Great were his deeds -- long was his reign -- unthinkable was his death. May the Father lie blameless for the deeds of the son. May the bloodied crown stay lost and forgotten." |
” |
–- Inscription upon King Terenas' Grave |
Today the former kingdom's territory lays, for the most part, in complete ruins. Despite this, the land is hotly contested between a variety of competing forces, including:
- The last remnants of the Undead Scourge;
- The undead former citizens of Lordaeron under Lady Sylvanas Windrunner known as the Forsaken;
- The zealous remnants of the Scarlet Crusade;
- The Argent Crusade within the Plaguelands;
- Numerous Alliance-aligned or Alliance-leaning organizations, military forces, settlements, resistance groups and cells.

Lordaeron's Army[]
For more detail see Lordaeron Army
The Lordaeronian Army evolved over time and as the need rose. For much of its early history it followed a legionary model, like its parent empire, Strom. Considering Lordaeron encompassed much of the subcontinent and had one of the largest populations over time, it can be seen that Lordaeron had one of the largest armies. Both in terms of professional soldiers, of which Lordaeron always kept a large amount of professional troops, and conscripts.
