Born as the third son in a minor noble house of Lordaeron, Krathyn Amberstorm (born Rafghalan) was a gregarious adventurer who lived almost three hundred years prior to the Orcish invasion of Azeroth. Although not the heir apparent, Krathyn made great strides in becoming beloved by those who pledged themselves to the House of Rafghalan & among the neighboring estates in eastern Hillsbrad. Behind the exterior of being a 'man of the people' was a calculating strategist who had hoped to gather popular support for his claim to leading the House.
A short but bloody struggle allowed Krathyn to rise to power. But the struggle itself and the unproven but very dangerous rumors about one of his brothers dabbling with demonic arts ultimately forced Krathyn to leave Hillsbrad. With a final victory over his two older brothers, he declared an end to the House of Rafghalan and the creation of the House of Amberstorm. Krathyn, his remaining family, and the House's remaining servants & soldiers pulled up roots & went west, into the Silverpine Forest.
Krathyn spent the next 70 years of his life engaged in helping build up the region of southern Silverpine & was heavily involved in efforts to promote greater cooperation between the Kingdoms of Lordaeron & Gilneas.
Notes[]
- Krathyn was a trained footman who was proficient with most conventional bladed weapons.
- It is believed that the town of Ambermill is named after the family or possibly Krathyn himself.
- Krathyn kept note of any word of potential heirs of his brothers that may have survived the House's war. Although he died without proving or learning as such, he was ultimately correct & an heir survived. A family line still exists linking back to Tanloste, living in the eastern region of the Alterac Mountains.
