Leopold Montclair I was the founding patron of the House of Montclair, taking on the name of "Montclair" in note to the clear mountains that his family was ordered to rule after the House of Wrynn's victory in the War for Stormwind's Independence.
Leopold supported the rebellion and the Stormwind Militia from its beginnings, launching a successful coup of Westbrook Garrison that wrested it from the hands of the Arathorian Legion. It is said that during his staged rebellion, Leopold discovered a gemmed sword deep in a cave in Westridge, which he named Antrumensis. The sword would come to be a symbol of rule for the House of Montclair as generations passed.
