Race

Eredar

Affiliation

Burning Legion

Man'ari Eredar are a branch of the Eredar species, which was corrupted by the Burning Legion into demons known, by Velen, as Man'ari. Every Man'ari Eredar is in service of the Legion, and most of them are in higher ranks, such as commanders. The word Man'ari refers to being, "Horrifically wrong, something twisted and unnatural and defiled."

Appearance[]

Man'ari look similar to Eredar, though the demon magic has changed their bodies. Their tails are longer and more muscular, and Man'ari lack cranial hair. Man'ari are also much larger than other races, even more than normal Eredar. Most Man'ari have shown physical changes in their skin, in the form of grey, dark-blue, or red skin. Horns may also grow from the head of a Man'ari Eredar.

History[]

The history of the Man'ari began when the Titan, Sargeras, offered immense power to the Eredar. The three leaders, Kil'jaedenArchimonde, and Velen discussed as to whether or not they should accept this power. Velen believed that the power had a disturbing element to it, but Kil'jaeden and Archimonde believed it was a true blessing to the Eredar race. Even after Velen received a vision of the horror this power would bring, the two were still enthralled by the power being offered to them. Lost in their thirst for power, Velen left them, and sought to save his people under the guidance of the Naaru, K'ure. Those who trusted Velen's words escaped with K'ure, while those who supported Archimonde and Kil'jaeden became demonic Man'ari, servants of the Legion.

Trivia[]

  • Man'ari are Eredar, and the terms are interchangeable. "Man'ari" is most often used by the Draenei to describe the Eredar followers of Kil'jaeden and Archimonde, as the Draenei believe that these demonic minions are no longer recognizable as true Eredar, but it could reasonably be used to describe any species that Sargeras has twisted from their natural state to a demonic one (such as Satyr, who are defiled and unnatural Night Elves twisted by fel energies.).
  • Demonic Eredar also appear to refer to themselves as "Man'ari", and usage of it as a species name to refer to the Eredar of the Burning Legion can be considered grammatically correct as Kil'jaeden appropriated the term for his own use, though the Man'ari mostly refer to themselves simply as "Eredar". The Draenei no longer call themselves Eredar, likely because the name is mostly associated with the demonic Man'ari Eredar. (Sources)
