Marian Elizabeth Ridgewell is a Abbess of the Church of the Holy Light as well as an active participant of the Court of Nobles. Her motherly nature and use of her connections to aid others has made her a beloved and influential figure in the Alliance and is considered to be one of the greatest prodigies of her generation.
History[]
Early Life[]
Marian was born twelve years before the opening of The Dark Portal. Being born to the illustrious noble family known as the Ridgewells or more famously, The Great Stags of the North. Her father proclaimed on the day of her birth that she was born for greatness.
At a young age, Mary was taught the proper knowledge and professions her parents deemed a noblewoman should learn such as diplomacy, foreign racial languages, tailoring as well as the piano and sword-play
Marian at a young age was said to be a very spoiled and entitled often asking her father and mother for toys, dresses and other frivolous things. She rarely often cared for things that were not towards progressing whatever her own agenda was at the time, however that did not stop her from meeting more humble nobles and peasants alike such as the heir to the Highblade name, Elevia. She and the nearly four-hundred year old high elven woman became the best of friends and would create a friendship that would last the trials of time. Another friend she would have is a farmhand's daughter known as Serina (later Serina Lightblade), one day while playing in a farm near her families estate Marian has dirtied her outfit and was nearly covered from head to toe in mud which did dismay her cheerful attitude at the time, A young Serina seeing this rushed to the young noblewoman attempting to clean her hoping her family would not be punished by a wrathful nobleman and father to which Marian laughed at ensuring Serina that she was fine and had nothing to worry over. Later on Marian would use her families connection to have Serina enter the military and reach Knighthood status with little to no ease though Serina's skill and stern/stoic attitude did well enough on it's own.
Marian's mother Cassandra was heavily faithful throughout her entire life and began forcing Marian to come along with her to church which Marian loathed until she reached the age of sixteen, one day whilst at church with her mother and father and brother, a man spoke before all the church-goers speaking so fondly of the Light and it's embrace, that man would later come to be revealed as Archbishop Alonsus Faol whom sparked something in the young noble woman that had been dwelling deep inside her, a few weeks after the service, with a heavy heart she had asked her mother and father if she would be allowed to leave home and join the the faithful as a Priestess of the Holy Light to which her mother gleefully accepted however her father was not so pleased and angry that Marian was to "throw away her legacy and name" to become a Priestess which would later lead to some distance between her and her father. Though regardless of her father's feelings regarding her choice left to train with a few surviving Northshire Clerics whom had made it to the capital of Lordaeron, there her spoiled attitude would be quickly broken but she would still retain some of her overconfidence.
Second War[]
Marian had not returned to the life of a noblewoman nor had seen her family except for her mother. In that time training as a Priestess and Cleric under the tutelage of man known only as Father Pio, it was revealed that Marian had harbored an immense physical connection to the Holy Light and would the finishing of her training would become one of the mightiest Light-Users of her time, also while training Father Pio had trained her to become a medical professional at the ripe age of eighteen, Mary already preforming several surgeries and so on. A skill that would later be required due to world events.
The Second War had officially begun and although Marian was not on the front lines as a medic, She was left in charged of Father Pio's chapel whom himself did actually march off to battle, using her new authority she would turn the chapel in a hospital of sorts holding wounded soldiers and militant officials and would often see Elevia and Serina in her "Hospital" due to both of them becoming some of the first females to join the newly established Order of the Silver Hand
During the siege of Lordaeron, Marian had only a handful of Clerics with her and two Silver Hand Knights, Julius Blackwood and Serina in the chapel which was under attack by the Orcish Horde, Marian had ran towards the back of the chapel in fear rocking herself back and forth in fear of what the orcs may do to her however Serina quickly followed Marian and telling her that this was not whom she was and was un-befitting behavior of the one of the Great Northern Stags inspiring the young priestess to take charge and aid in the defense of the chapel which would succeed thanks to the Horde's infighting and the Alliance's quick wit, after the defense of the chapel, Marian stayed in Lordaeron doing what she could to aid wounded soldiers while Julius, Serina and Berethor the Lightbinder would go onto the battle of Blackrock to rescue their dear friend Elevia V. Highblade whom had been captured by the orcs and was serving as a slave.
The Third War[]
By the time the Third War had began, Marian had completed her training and was now ordained as a Priestess and Cleric of the Holy Light journeying throughout the lands of Lordaeron and after much consideration had returned to her family's lands and spoke with her father. Years and Years of distance and dismay between Father and Daughter finally coming to surface, Thomas was angry that Marian had left to join the church, he believed that she was a Ridgewell and was destined to succeed him and lead their house into a golden age rather than join the clergy but after many years of speaking to his wife on the matter and the Order of the Silver Hand becoming great heroes of the Alliance of Lordaeron His anger towards his daughter had faded and he welcomed her home with open arms confessing that he "Could not live knowing he had cast her out." Though Lord Ridgewell had named Alexander, Marian's younger brother successor to their name while Marian had trained in the ways of the Light, This did not bother the Priestess as she understood that it was necessary.
The Ridgewell Family was enjoying happy times now that their family had been reunited but it was sadly not to be as the plague of Lordaeron made by the necromancer Kel'Thuzad and the Cult of the Damned. Lord Thomas Ridgewell began to tend to his duties instructing the military of his lands to ready themselves for any threat and he stayed at Ridgewell Manor with Marian's mother and brother while the Priestess herself journeyed out to aid Prince Arthas Menethil and Lady Jaina Proudmoore in the investigations of the plague aiding as best she could until they had reached the gates of Stratholme. Marian sat at the camp outside Stratholme thinking to her family and if the plague had reached her own home when Lord Uther the Lightbringer had ridden up to the gates with Jaina at his heel, The Prince and the Lightbringer had their famous conversation. Uther was relieved of duty and he and his Knights had left Stratholme and Arthas looked over Stratholme saying words that Mary would never forget.
"It's done! Those of you who have the will to save this land, follow me! The rest of you... get out of my sight!"
This was easily one of the hardest choices the young priestess had to make "Follow her prince and attempt to stop the plague before it could spread and kill innocent people or follow Uther and Jaina and not take part in the bloodshed that her prince would unleash, with heavy heart Marian decided to follow her prince into the city and purge the city of Lordaeron, the atrocities she had committed there would stay in her mind all her life, the horrifying images and than there was the demon.
The Dreadlord Mal'Ganis The one whom had caused this horrible plague of undeath. After the purged had ended and the city had been reduced to ash, Mary had thrown her cleric's staff into the waters in front of the gates renouncing her Priesthood declaring to herself and to the Light that she was not worthy of such an honor after what she had done.
After the purge she had returned home and confessed to her parents what she had done sobbing and even asked if they would consider placing their own daughter on trial for murder to which they did not and would harbor their daughter in their lands and defend her against anyone, even King Terenas if they had to.
Sometime after the culling of Stratholme, Arthas had returned to Lordaeron and was on his way to the capital city, Marian went only to see the prince whom she had followed to what she considered the worst decision of her life. She had stood on one of the higher floors with her brother Alexander whom had decided to tag along with her. The rose petals falling over the prince, it had been a few minutes since Arthas had gone into the throne room and she could tell something was wrong but her thoughts were interrupted as she heard screaming coming from the gates, She had grabbed her brother by the hand and attempted to rush her way out of the capital city, She and her brother had managed to escape the city but on the path back to Avalon Province, She and her brother had been attack by a group of ghouls, Marian was forced to watch her brother be consumed alive as she held onto his hand as he was dragged away by the ghouls, She was forced to run and managed to make it to her family's grounds which was being attacked by the scourge, She had made it to Ridgewell Manor only to find her father on his knees holding her mother's lifeless corpse in his arms.
Her father was crushed and relieved to see his daughter had made it home safe, he had looked at her briefly before looking around asking where Alexander was to which Marian only replied with tears, Her father hugged his daughter crying with her for a moment before informing her that they needed to leave, The surviving Ridgewells escaped Lordaeron when Jaina Proudmoore sailed west towards Kalimdor. Not much had happened after they're arrival to Kalimdor, Both Marian and her father had fought against Archimonde.
Age of Strife[]
The Dark Times[]
A few years after the defeat of the Burning Legion, Lord Thomas Ridgewell and Marian had sailed to the southern kingdom of Stormwind where they had petitioned for Lord Bolvar Fordragon and Lady Katrana Prestor to restore their nobility which they had lost with the fall of Lordaeron, Bolvar had given them the Lands of Redridge to hold domain over much to Lady Prestor's dismay. Unknown to any of the Stormwind Noble Court, the newly appointed Ridgewell grounds was actually a hid several massive veins of gold and jewels near instantly giving the Ridgewells their famed wealth. They had restored their title, manor and worked to aid the Kingdom of Stormwind for all they had been given.
Marian had resumed her noblewoman duties as well as aiding in a clinic in Stormwind City. After Lady Prestor was revealed to be the black dragon Onyxia and had fled back to Kalimdor with King Varian Wrynn held captive, Marian went to Kalimdor to aid soldiers whom would go to defeat the Broodmother of the Black Dragonflight, however when she had arrived in Kalimdor, She was informed that Onxyia was slain by the King of Stormwind which annoyed Marian coming across the planet for nothing but she would soon be busy as she heard that both the whole of the Alliance and the Horde were gathering in the southern most part of Kalimdor known only as Ahn'Qiraj. She was there for the opening of the gates and she stormed the fallen kingdom with the rest of the Alliance and the Horde.
She and the other Heroes of Azeroth had made it to the temple of Ahn'Qiraj, Immediately Marian knew something dark and wrong about the land they were fighting in, as she and the armies of azeroth further stormed through the temple, the dark whispers of the Old Gods began to creep their way into Marian's mind. C'Thun's whispers had instilled a heart stopping fear into her and she had stopped in one of the chamers of the temple grasping her head and rocking back and forth trying to calm herself while the great old one continued to drive her mad. For the moment she was able to be calmed by her friends whom had accompanied her, Archmage Shannon Ozpin and Elevia Highblade. The three women along with the Heroes of Azeroth managed to defeat the Old God after which Marian returned to Redridge, Elevia to Theramore and Ozpin disappearing from society.
The Burning Crusade[]
Marian was not very active during the siege of Outland but did what she could to aid others such as welcoming the Draenai people into the alliance and forging a friendship with the draenai Vindicator known as Apollus, going so far as to even quell his hatred towards towards the Orcish people. Marian mainly stayed out of the campaign until Elevia had asked Marian to accompany her to aid in stopping the demon Kil'jaeden from entering Azeroth through the scared Sunwell. Both Elevia and Marian journeyed to the isle of Quel'Danas to stop Kil'jaeden, while there they ran into their own friend Shannon Opzin whom had happened to be there. The three women along with the the forces of Azeroth stopped Kil'jaeden. Ozpin had left quickly after the demon's defeat but Elevia and Marian had watched the draenai Prophet Velen restore the scared Sunwell as a font of Holy and Arcane Magic which caused Elevia to burst into tears sobbing at the sight of the Sunwell and Marian deeply contemplated what she had seen and reconsidered her path towards the Holy Light. After the Sunwell, both Elevia and Marian stopped by Light's Hope Chapel before they would return to Stormwind.
Wrath of the Lich King []
Marian and Elevia began walking the grounds of the chapel when Elevia had head the shout of the Highlord and his death knights charge upon the Chapel, Elevia immediately joining the defense slaying several Death Knights and Marian rushing towards the medical tent readying her supplies. Soon after she had left the tent watching the Brotherhood of Light and Elevia duel the undead scourge when what she believed a miracle had had happened. The Legendary Tirion Fordring had ridden into battle and nearly instantly stopped the undead in their tracks making the soldiers of the Light bring Darion Mograine and his death knights before the chapel. Tirion would give Darion his speech informing him that Arthas has left him and the Death Knights to die.
Marian nearly broke at the mention of the name, Arthas had been alive and was now the Leader of the unholy Scourge, Darion had silenced Tirion telling him to get on with it and end the Death Knight's life. But soon his master, the former Prince of Lorderon, The Lich King, Arthas appeared filling Marian's heart with sorrow and Elevia's with rage. The King had admitted that he indeed left the Death Knights to die, only having them attacking the Chapel to draw the great Tirion Fordring out of hiding. The fallen prince held the unholy blade Frostmourne up to Fordring sucking the life out of him. Darion would not allow Tirion to die throwing the Ashbringer at the paladin which he caught in his hands instantly purifying the previously unholy blade into a force of pure of Light. Tirion fordring had landed a painful blow on the Lich King, after the Lich King had fled the chapel Tirion had called for The Knight of the Silver Hand and Argent Dawn under one banner known as the Argent Crusade.
After she had witnessed the Argent Crusade's formation, she had gone to Elevia and informed her that she would once again follow the path of a Priestess of the Holy Light and asked that Elevia accompany her to Stratholme because there was something she needed to do. Elevia and agreed the two went to Stratholme. They stood on the bridge to which Marian removed her clothing and jumped into the waters surrounding the city fishing out her mentor Pio's staff known as Anaharath. After Marian had retrieved a staff which was sacred to her she and Elevia journeyed back to to Light's Hope. While on the way to Light's Hope, Marian began to pray to the Holy Light once again regaining little however some ability to wield the Holy Light. Once she returned to the Chapel, she joined the Argent Crusade and became a Confessor.
After she had joined the Crusade, Marian returned to Redridge only briefly to let her father know that he had returned to the path of the Light which nearly made her father burst into tears informing her that "her mother would be proud." after that Marian departed from Redridge and left to fight in the Argent Crusade alongside her friends such as Elevia, Julius, Berethor and Opzin whom they'd later meet in Dalaran.

Physical Appearance[]
The Lady’s form bears her ever so slightly above average, rising to a respectable 5'9". Yet her height being a little above average is seldom what one's attention is drawn to, but rather it is her eyes that are a sight to behold. Their hue as that of a glacier, a pristine and spotless cerulean azure that resembles the glistening scales of a Blue Dragon. Yet despite their icy appearance, one could not help but feel warmth from her. The gentle warmth of care and comfort, of home and hearth, motherly in every sense of the word. Adding to the loving aura is a gentle smile that rests ever upon her lips. An inviting warm presence which would be found to even the most troubled of individuals, with darkness in their heart and hate in their eyes.
Upon her gentle features perks a dainty nose that arcs very faintly outwards into a little point, with soft horizontal arches that formed her nostrils. To complement this appearance is her very fair and pristine skin, at times almost glistening, such is its beauty and beneath her nose are lush, full and sultry lips of a tinted-rose colour.
A strong but slender and lithe jaw, with soft edges and a gentle rounding up towards her ears, her jawline bore a refined look. Though it is not that of a muscled warrior but more akin to what one would see upon a noble, upon someone who cares well for their being and appearance. This however does not mean that its appearance is by any means weak, as her sturdiness is clear, yet it bears a rounded softness to it.
In stark contrast to the cold hues of her eyes, yet in compliment to the warmth of her smile, is the fiery orange hair that crests her soft face. Of amber hue, the strands of her hair drape down either side to half-way cover her ears, before lightly pulling backwards in a braid like a topaz crown upon her gentle features. Throughout her hair can be seen the occasional bundled together strands of hair that escape the crown-braid, hanging down and swaying slightly with every movement, like how banners might sway in a gentle summer's breeze.
Tall, broad of form, and imposing in demeanor, Marian Ridgewell cuts a figure that is difficult to ignore and easy to linger on. Beneath the modest finery of her bishop's clerical attire. She is curvaceous and bold, although hidden from sight by her vestments of faith. along with a long and slender neck rises above the many layers of of her habit, her soft which leads into rounded shoulders. Joining in this defiance of expectations is her well-toned arms.
Not quite those of a warrior, but toned enough to warrant the notice of a beholder. Returning to expectation for a priestess however are her hands. Soft and graceful with long and slender digits in a manner more befitting a musician than a cleric, most commonly well kept and manicured.
Despite admirable attempts by her robe to keep her form hidden, her generous and full bust is nigh impossible to miss. The frame of a woman who is no stranger to the travails of motherhood: a badge she wears with pride and honor. Just as her smile does, her aids in the air of softness and warmth she bears with her, a visage that would make anyone long for a motherly embrace, for the peace and comfort of safety in a maternal presence.
This however does not only speak to the beauty of her form, but also to the quality of her tailor, as her robes are able to contain her statuesque curves, ones that were only highlighted and reinforced by a slim and well defined waistline and alluringly wide hips, and with long and feminine legs that kept her aloft. At first glance she presents an imposing air, the set of her lips and the glare of her deep cerulean eyes as sharp as pointed daggers aimed directly at the heart. It is an illusion quickly dispelled by the warmth of her smile, by the kindness of her touch, and by the softness of her voice. She is a woman of motherly allure, of age and wisdom alongside mature beauty.
The lady is clad in a glistening and pristine gown of cream-like silk, the surface of which is faintly reflective, with the edges of her radiant robe bearing a gilded flat trim at the sleeves and a more decorative trim of the same gold at the bottom of the attire. The sleeves are long and flowing, starting to open at elbows height at the front, with the back of the sleeves draping downwards nearly to her knees in length, providing no hindrance to her arms or her movement yet adding to the flowing and majestic aura of her silhouette.
To add onto the attire is a tight cincture, with such height that it goes from her waist to just beneath her bosom,. wrapping around her lower chest with the front of it draping down like an ornate tapestry with two bands that drape down along either side of her waist, as if covering the fore of each leg respectively from without the robe. At the bottom of these two drapes is a more intricate gilded filigree in the shape of vines. Between each of these is a singular wider cloth that drapes down her centre from her waist.
About halfway down it is segmented by use of the golden trim that exists throughout her attire, meeting at the centre in an upwards point. Then, at its furthest end, it once again reaches a gilded upwards point with a symbol like the star on a compass upon the gold. This adornment is made of dark teal cloth, and just like the robes that it adorns, the trim is gilded and ornate. Of the same hues and craft is a two-layered cover laid over her shoulders, with sharp edges at the peak of each shoulder, and a filigreed collar around her neck.
Laid around her neck and draping down before her is a clerical stole, of golden textile with the symbol of the Church of the Holy Light embroidered upon it at waist height; as well as the symbol of Lordaeron itself higher up just below her shoulders.
To finalize the priestly garbs is a layered hat that combines the various aspects of the rest of her vestments of faith. The silvery beneath with the dark teal layered above it and crested with gilded decorative filigree, rising into a tall point above her forehead with trims that frame the symbol of the church in gleaming gold.
Personality and Ideals[]
Maternal is the ideal descriptor of the lady in question, as her day to day practices are ones of gentleness and of warmth, of love and of care. Soft are her words and kindness is the aura they carry. Her demeanor is irrepressibly joyous and calmly energetic and she would never let anyone silence her voice when it comes to speaking up for peoples right to live however they desire to live.
She has a reputation for being a very outspoken advocate for freedom of choice and will, standing against both religious and political decrees that would dictate and restrain the freedom of people, despite her position within the clergy and how this often goes against the declarations and wishes of the church. Her love for the people and their love for her in turn however protects her from excommunication, as despite that many fellow clerics and priests may disagree with her and even ostracize her to certain degrees, it is far safer to simply let her continue as she does rather than upsetting the people who's faith the church relies upon.
Her view of the Light and its faith is far more focused upon the spiritual aspects, as a guide towards inner peace and improvement of one's self, rather than of zealous purging of the unclean or anything of the sort. Utilizing concepts of Chakras and Taoism in her practices and sermons, she seeks merely to live a life of peace and happiness, for herself and her family. She hopes also that, in teaching others the same, they too might find a simplistic happiness and peace in their life, so that they might meet their twilight without regret, wrath or hate, and that the families of their departed too can live in peace knowing that their loved ones left nothing unfinished in life.*
This wish to see others find peace and happiness plays hand in hand with her very sympathetic and caring nature. She has grown to care for others and willing to see the best in them, as even in her youth she never let social norms or traditions hinder her belief in what others were capable of. Of the things they could accomplish and the heights they could reach and She would encourage them towards their best selves, to the things they could accomplish and the heights they could reach, even if society as a whole may think it improper or wrong. This aspect of her remains true to this day, as no tradition or social norm will hinder her, nor will she allow it to hinder others in their goals and dreams.

Madison and Mary had met a few short months after The Shattering had occurred and Gilneas had fallen, with Mary having need of the employ of a monster-hunter in chasing down an undead knight who had made off with a power artifact that had been held by the Church of the Holy Light. And so it was that Mary had hired Madison to recover the artifact, in which the Priestess herself would accompany Madison to defend against the foul dark magics of the Undead. Though originally Madison had attempted to treat Mary as a romantic conquest, eventually she began to see Mary as a maternal figure, due in part to Lady Ridgewell’s inherent maternal nature but also in how she came to care for Madison after the latter of whom had been injured by the undead during a duel.
The duo would stay in contact long after their partnership had ended, with Madison being invited to live in Ridgewell Manor after she had struggled to find housing in Stormwind amidst the other Gilnean refugees, though there she would run into conflict with Mary’s husband to be, Daravel Williams, who, was a royalist during the Northgate Rebellion, a conflict which Madison also fought in on the opposite side of Daravel.
Eventually, Daravel and Madison learned to respect one another as Mary had grown to care for Madison, even going so far as to name her daughter, and offer her a place amongst her house and children, though Madison elected not to take on any official titles or responsibility, she still considers Mary and the Ridgewell family to be her own.
A chance encounter which only happened to Mary's spontaneous decision to join the Order of the Citrine Eagle, Marian met Jezebel Elizabeth DeBray during an evening of leisure after a completed mission and the two conversed casually though never truly became friends until one mission where Jezebel's children were captured and in a fit of rage, Jezebel lashed out at her husband Marcus, Mary took Jezebel aside and told her the story of her daughter Serina and what being a mother meant to her, to have children. Since then, Mary and Jezebel had taken a strange almost Mother/Daughter type relationship with Jezebel being what Marian believes her daughter Serina could have been and Jezebel being reminded heavily of her mother Elizabeth when she see Mary.
Jezebel has always struggled with keeping faith and has often dabbled into the realm of shadows though had stopped as Mary soon became to reignite some small sense of faith in Jezebel, even going so far as to mentor her in some ways as to her personal belief and teachings of the nature and philosophy of the Light. Mary and Jezebel to this day share a strong loving bond that has yet to be broken, even though Mary's leaving of the Order has caused them not to be able to speak as much as they did prior.
Nearly identical to Mary in every way save for the brilliant emerald colour of her gaze, The Lady Terez Ascania is Mary’s maternal cousin, the duo had been close from a very young age due to Terez’s mother often visiting Mary’s parents and their lands, due to the great resemblance between Mary, Terez and Mary’s younger brother, Alexander Ridgewell, the three would often be found together engaging in merriment as siblings often did.
Terez, who had up until her sixteenth name day had gone by the name of Rian had discovered herself due in part to Mary’s encouragement, happening upon Terez in her room, applying various makeups to her form rather unsuccessfully, Mary who had learned that she had preferred the company of both men and women, had taught her properly and told her that she was accepted regardless of who she was.
Eventually, Mary and Terez fell out of contact as Terez had moved to Kul Tiras, causing the duo to become estranged however that did not stop Marian's attempts at reuniting with her kin, who had continuously wrote letters to Terez in hopes at a reunion, Mary for years wrote, nearly giving up hope until a chance encounter had them reunite in Stormwind during their adult years. Terez would be engaged to the Ladies, Merellia Hallewell and Alexandria Williams, Mary would attend the wedding ceremony from that point on, make a vow to be their for her kin who had suffered so much prior at the hands of her father, though they are cousins, Mary considers Terez to be the youngest of her siblings, going so far as to name her sister.

Friends and Allies[]
Mary’s oldest friend, her best friend and eternal companion. A friend, a mentor, a sister, a mother and a guardian, Elevia has played all these roles for Mary, being present at the birth of the Priestess, having been a longtime friend of House Ridgewell. Since that day; Elevia and Mary have had a special bond with the High Elf being in Elevia’s life always, teaching the young woman how to play the piano, how to ride a horse, proper etiquette, how to defend herself should the young Lady Ridgewell ever be in a situation and overall, just being a shoulder for the young woman to cry on.
When Mary experienced her tragedy at sixteen and had been suicidal, Elevia was the one to pull Mary aside and to guide her, giving the noblewoman a new lease on her life. Elevia had chosen to stay in Lordaeron after the Second War had ended, often serving as a watchful guardian for Mary as she matured and protecting her whenever necessary, during the Scourging of Lordaeron, if not for Elevia then Mary and her father would have fallen to the mindless scourge.
Elevia had eventually joined the Scarlet Crusade after the death of Lord Uther the Lightbringer at Sorrow Hill, when Isillien had instituted his racial purge of the Crusade and had left Elevia to die, it was Mary who had nursed Elevia back to health after Berethor sent her to the south. House Ridgewell afterwards, sponsored Elevia as a Knight of the Realm when many northerners attempted to rebuild their lives after the Third War. Mary going on to stand by her friend through very difficult times, returning the favor and serving as a guide, friend and sister for Elevia, helping her to let go of her rage during the events in Pandaria, as the Sha had a strong hold over the Paladin.
Eventually, everything came full circle as Mary served as Elevia’s medical consultant to her battalion in the Grand Alliance, as a spiritual leader to her and her order and a friend and family member, serving as Elevia’s maid of honour and being the doctor to deliver Elevia’s firstborn son, Aenarion.
Aniah, Mary’s beloved old friend and “aunt”. Aniah, alongside her sister, Elevia have been a constant in Mary’s life since the day she was born. The golden-haired elf often taking a young Mary on adventures and spoiling the young woman, likely being a reason why Mary was considered a spoiled and insufferable brat when she was younger. The two remained close for many years until the Third War occurred, resulting in Aniah being put in a coma until the return of the Lich King nearly ten years later.
Mary and Aniah would eventually reunite at the Argent Tournament, Mary helping her friend adjust to the world as it was now, explaining history and what had transpired in the last decade. Eventually, when Aniah had turned double-agent, working for the Alliance in secret while publicly fighting for the Horde, Mary took on the role of a spiritual counselor and aiding Aniah through her depression and alcoholism after Aniah’s fiance had abandoned her.
During the Blood War, Mary had introduced Aniah to her then, protege Serana of whom Aniah, quickly grew attached to, beginning a relationship with even when Serana was tainted by the Void. Eventually the two fell would fall in love and conceive a child together which caused Aniah to slink away in fear of the commitment after her own prior marriage to be had failed, causing Mary to chastise Aniah and bring her back to Serana, giving her the advice that she needed in order to commit to being the woman Serana needed.
Since that day, Aniah and Mary have considered each other the best of friends.
Serana was one of the first students Mary has had in recent years, meeting shortly after the 501st victory at Quel'Damor, Serana who at the time was drowning the blackness of the void, Mary managed to aid Serana and pull her back from the brink, aiding Serana's transformation into the golden eyed High Elf she has become and teaching her how to wield and trust the love and glow of the Light again, though the two are recent friends, they have become incredibly close, with Mary acting as a confidant for Serana, often teasing her about her relationship with Elevia's sister, Aniah Silversong. A loving and good friend. Serana Dawnsinger holds a special place amongst the pantheon of Marian's companions.
The first student Mary has had in many years. Mary and Serana had met shortly after the Siege of Quel’Damor during the Blood War, Serana, who was the rightful heir of the Duchy of Quel’Damor and who had pledged herself to Lady Elevia Highblade was losing herself to the corruption of the Void. Mary swore to help save Serana, scouring the archives of the Church of the Light for anything that made aid the elf, eventually discovering a ritual to force the void out of Serana’s body and purify her in the light.
Serana chose to accept Mary’s offer. A group of Clerics conducting a ritual in the elven homeland to remove the taint from Serana’s body, they had succeeded and Serana was reborn with the power of the Light guiding her. Mary eventually took Serana on as an acolyte and aided her in discovering her faith and priesthood, as well as to understand her new abilities that came with wielding the Light. Serana coming to view Mary as one of her greatest friends, eventually telling Mary of her past and the son that was stolen from her by his human father who had been a member of the Scarlet Crusade.
Eventually, Mary managed to track down Serana’s son, an orphan boy by the name of Xion, taking the boy under her wing and reintroducing him to his mother, an awkward meeting that did not last long, due to Xion’s age and rejection of Serana because of that fact. Mary has since taken Xion as a ward of House Ridgewell, in hopes of eventually convincing him to reunite with his mother. While appreciative of that fact, Mary’s closeness with Serana’s son has caused their relationship to become strained as of late, much to Mary’s chagrin.
A lifelong companion and friend of Marys. Mary had originally met Berethor during the beginning of the Second War when the young woman had been drafted into the service of the 3rd Legion of the Alliance of Lordaeron. The two grew very close as Berethor looked out for Mary, taking a very stern and protective ‘elder brother’ attitude towards the young woman, which was only encouraged by what the Paladin would describe as young Marian’s ‘little sister’ demeanor. The two being natives of Lordaeron saw them spend many years together as Berethor also began to serve as a spiritual mentor to the young Lady Ridgewell, even going so far as to be present for Mary’s ordination.
The two would remain closer as the Scourging of Lordaeron and the death of Uther the Lightbringer would see them join together to survive, with Berethor eventually escorting Mary to safety in Stormwind. The two have remained close to this day, with Mary often serving as a Cleric of Northshire in Berethor's ceremonies as well Berethor returning the favor, acting as a Paladin-Liaison for Mary’s duties whenever the Silver Hand is required as well as serving as the Maid of Honour at Berethor and Elevia’s wedding. Berethor views Marys as a younger sister and the Priestess views him as her stoic older brother.
Berethor also serves to mentor Marian’s young son Thomas in the ways of the Light, discussing the possibility of the boy being taken to squire under Berethor, an offer which Mary has excitedly accepted. With Thomas referring to the Paladin as uncle.
- Morgan Forrest
The granddaughter of an old friend, Alecsander from her days carvanning. Mary took interest in Morgan as she looked for an apprentice to aid her in duties while serving the Church of the Holy Light, a young spirited woman with an aptitude for channeling the light and a mind for study.
Mary took the young Morgan in at twenty for an apprenticeship and she has remained at Mary’s side since then, often seeing accompanying the Bishop of Arenmore in the Cathedrals in Stormwind and Callehad as well as any trips that require Mary to attend the Court of Nobles on behalf of the Church.
Mary sees Morgan as very close and the younger priestess is rarely seen away from the Bishop as Mary has begun preparing Morgan to eventually succeed her as the Bishop of Arenmore.
Romances[]
A very complicated woman, in general but especially in the lives of Mary and her daughter, Eden. Mary and Lilith had met one another only a few months after the Second War had ended. After experiencing the horrors, trials and tribulations of war, Mary had wished to “discover” herself, electing not to return to Lordaeron and her privileged position, she joined a caravan of nomads who would wander all throughout the Eastern Kingdoms, eventually arriving at Westfall. There, a 17yr old Marian met then 19yr old Lilith Crestspring in a tavern outside Moonbrook. Lilith went to investigate the tavern as the caravan’s party had made it too rowdy for those trying to sleep.
The two initially despised one another, Mary viewed Lilith as a self-absorbed, self-appointed “chief” a word that Mary would use to refer to Lilith often which frustrated the woman. Lilith herself viewed Mary as a good for nothing layabout. As the Caravan stayed in Moonbrook for some weeks, Lilith would find herself returning to the tavern to complain and argue with Mary to which the young Ridgewell teased for harboring secret feelings. Feelings that were realized and vindicated when eventually Mary and the Caravan began to pack and leave for Elwynn, and with encouragement from Lilith’s mother, Selise, she joined the Caravan to be with Mary.
The two eventually fell in love and kept that love for twelve long years as their phase of being wandering caravaneers had ended, establishing a life together in Lordaeron with Mary and Lilith joining the Church, the latter of whom had adopted Lordaeron as her homeland but tragedy struck when the Scourging of Lordaeron had occurred, the duo stuck together through most of it but upon learning that Mary was with child, she was sent away to live in the south at the behest of Lilith and Thomas Ridgewell, Mary’s father.
Lilith would eventually join The Scarlet Crusade in an attempt to take Lordaeron back from the undead and for her love and unborn child but the Crusade had other plans, in order to not lose an effect Inquisitor, Grand Inquisitor Isillien would intercept any and all letters from Mary who had been pleading for Lilith to come home, even going so far as to manipulate the young woman, and claiming that Eden had died in stillbirth and Mary did not wish for her to return. But Mary had not given up hope, continuing to write to Lilith for years until the Cataclysm had happened… With Mary finally letting go of Lilith upon meeting her future husband, Daravel Williams.
Mary wrote one final letter to Lilith, informing her that she had met someone and would move on and that one day, she hoped Lilith would find peace, forgetting Lilith until Mary and Eden would meet her for the first time in twenty years and the first time in young Eden’s life, when the Blood War had brought the Grand Alliance and Church to Lordaeron where Mary and Lilith would meet as the Alliance and Lilith’s Reborn Sect of the Scarlet Crusade would do battle.
The love of Mary’s life, her husband, partner and father to their many children. Marian had originally met Daravel a few months after the Gilnean migration to Stormwind and Darnassus. The duo met in a tavern after Mary had accidentally spilled a tankard of ale onto the innocent Gilnean, after which the two began to talk throughout the night while Mary became increasingly drunk and made a fool out of herself. Though Daravel, ever the gentleman stayed with the Priestess to look after her, paying for a room at an inn and watching her throughout the night to make sure that she did not harm herself.
Mary, in the morning when she came to her senses, asked Daravel to breakfast to make a better first impression and the two hit it off immediately, beginning a relationship soon after their initial meeting and eventually, starting a family and being married within the year, giving birth to twins; Thomas and Selise Williams in the Year, 620 K.C. Though Daravel was originally distant to his children due to a traumatic past, eventually the two worked through it and became truly supportive of one another as they raised their family, teaching them and their later siblings of their heritage and culture as children of Gilneas and Lordaeron. Daravel would also form a close bond with Mary’s daughter Eden Ridgewell, of whom would go on to see Daravel as her true and only father.
Though the two have struggled somewhat in their relationship as Daravel had been called away constantly to fight alongside his King and for Gilneas, the duo have endured, with Mary and Daravel agreeing together to finance the rebuilding of House Williams and its surrounding lands in Gilneas, as the two strive to make a second home for their children in their father’s native homeland.
