History[]

Matilva was born to Irnier and Yasmeih Pavogus in Stormwind City. Matilva enjoyed a comfortable life, as her mother was a noblewoman before she married her father. While she did not experience the luxuries of noble life, she did live quite comfortably in comparison to typical commonfolk.

Two years after the Stonemason Riots, the Defias Brotherhood had officially formed under the leadership of Edwin VanCleef, former guild master of the Stonemason's Guild. As Matilva's father was part of the unpaid, restless stonemasons, she witnessed firsthand the anger they felt upon being refused their rightful pay for restoring the city. She listened to her spit on the names of the nobles, labeling them corrupt and selfish. She found herself feeling angry right along with him and at the age of 16, she joined her father in his quest for vengeance against Stormwind's government.

Personality[]

When Matilva was young, she was a very bubbly, eccentric personality. She had a very close relationship with her father and was always eager to learn from him. Since her mother came from a noble family, she was often schooled in various lessons from etiquette, politics, etc. Though usually, she rebelled against her mother's constant lectures. If she failed to skip them altogether, she was usually late and tuned out most of the subject matter. Due to this, Matilva and her mother often bickered and they rarely were able to agree on anything.

Matilva began to change after the Stonemason Riots. She had not been present during the riots, but her father had participated. When he returned in the evening, he expressed his frustration about the situation with his family. Matilva came to understand the dedicated, loyal, hard-working men of the Stonemason's Guild had been refused their rightful pay for restoring Stormwind after its fall. She felt disgusted at the selfish, unreliable attitude of the nobles of Stormwind and enraged that their loyalty to their home had been tossed aside as if it were less than worthless. Her anger was furthered by her mother's disapproving attitude. She expressed distaste in Matilva's father for participating in the riots, which had killed Queen Tiffin. She claimed that the nobility was experiencing a shortage in funds after the war and their inability to provide was of no fault of their own. It was then that Matilva lost her temper. She felt that her mother was defending the nobility due to her background and that she was downplaying hundreds of artisan's hard work, including her father's. She was appalled that she seemed to be more loyal to the rich circle than her flesh and blood. So when the guild master of the Stonemason's Guild, Edwin VanCleef, called on the members to take their righteous vengeance against Stormwind, Matilva had no qualms with leaving her mother alongside her father. After defending those guilty, the last thing her mother deserved was loyalty.

During her activity in the Defias Brotherhood, any trace of compassion left her heart. She grew cold, calculated and irritable over the course of her initiation and through her time as an active member.

Physical Appearance[]

Matilva carries the visage of a typical human of Lordaeronian descent, traits she inherited from her mother's ancestry. She is fair-skinned, possesses blonde hair and striking blue eyes. She is average in height, measuring at 5'5" (165.1 cm). As an active combatant (during her time with the Defias) and a seasoned rogue, she is well built. She has lean muscle while keeping her slim frame.

She is often seen in leather armor, reinforced from years of well-use from her days as a convict. She is always armed with her weapons of choice, her dual rapiers.

Relationships[]

Irnier Pavogus[]

You don't belong in the dark, damp stockades below this damned city. Starving, diseased, left alone to die. You're of my blood. You're my daughter.

–Irnier to Matilva

Matilva has always had a close relationship with her father since childhood. She would accompany him to his stonemasonry work, often without his permission. Instead of getting irritated, he was instead prideful of her rampant enthusiasm about her interest, despite her mother's disapproval. The two grew even closer as he trained her to endure the strain of physical labor and assist him in his projects.

Yasmeih Pavogus[]

We can never be a family again. Not after what you and your father have done.

–Yasmeih to Matilva

In her youth, Mativa's relationship with her mother was not always a strained one. During her lessons, Matilva often constantly bothered her with incessant questions and nonstop chatter. It caused more playful banter rather than arguments of genuine resentment. Her mother did, however, express disapproval about Matilva constantly accompanying her father to work. Coming from a noble family, her mother had reservations about her daughter working peasant's work, but she figured that if she were to follow in her father's footsteps, she might as well know to defend herself adequately.
