Mellectria Sunstrike is an active ranger and beast tamer within the House of Sunstrike. Originally born a bastard out of wedlock when her noble father romanced a local tavern maid within Fairbreeze Village, she would grow up often times without a mother, who was hard at work trying to support both herself and her daughter. With such little supervision, Mellectria would often get into trouble via stealing to feed herself. Eventually stealing from a Farstrider who wondered through town, the elven woman took pity on the urchin and taught her archery, how to fletch arrows and craft bows, and eventually how to hunt.
Taking to these new skills like a fish to water, Mellectria eventually began hunting to help support her mother and herself, fostering and growing a large love for nature and the skills taught to her. Eventually Mellectria learned to tan, and began earning a bit of coin, which only made her and her mother's lives easier. Eventually, the girl would grow and eventually become interested in learning to deal with beasts, starting with hawkstriders, then horses, and then the beasts of the land. Growing in skill, the female forged a respectable set of skills, fully supporting her mother and herself.
At some point, Mellectria would be found by Moranai Sunstrike, who would adopt her cousin, and legitimize her as a Sunstrike, causing her to drop her name and no longer be a bastard. Currently, she is struggling to learn the manners and etiquette required of a noble, while using her skills to help House Sunstrike.
Character[]
Appearance[]
An average looking Sin'dorei woman stands before you, her golden hair luscious, full and reaching down to about her middle back. It is well groomed and kept free of tangles and knots, and smells lightly of lavender. Her mane frames a cute, but not overtly beautiful face, blemish free face that almost always has a smile plastered on it. The female's eyebrows are plucked and shaped and rest upon two large eyes that seem full of life and carry the spark of intelligence. Between them lies a cute, button nose that in turn rests upon a set of small but plump lips, with her face ending in an oval shape, perched upon a feminine neck.
Moving down, the woman's frame is pear-shaped, with most of her weight on her hips. If seen without armor, it's clear the woman is athletic and in shape, but not too muscled. Her body is free of any scars or blemishes, save for a few spots of freckles here and there on her shoulders.
Personality[]
Melle is a happy-go-lucky woman, always trying to look on the bright side of things. She attempts to focus on a positive outlook and tries to share these thoughts with other people. She is optimistic about much of what goes on in her life and is a problem-solver when the going gets rough. She is passionate about animals and people and does her best to treat others with respect.
On the flip side, the woman has a temper and can sometimes get so passionate about things that she can become impulsive or do stupid things. She can be extremely trusting and naive at times, and if her trust is broken, she can hold a grudge and never forget being slighted.
History[]
Origins[]
Mellectria Dawnstrider, born September 19th, 490 K.C. in Fairbreeze Village, was born of an illegitimate union between her father, Badamyr Sunstrike and her mother, Aredhel Dawnstrider. Abandoned by her father, Mellectria would grow up in a rather impoverished home with her mother, who worked during the day and evening as a barmaid. With little to no adult supervision outside of those in the village, Mellectria would find herself in trouble quite often, usually from stealing bread, or cuts of meat. Eventually progressing from stealing food to stealing money, Mellectria would go about stealing a few coins from Anathel Dayrunner, a Farstrider who was passing through Fairbreeze Village. Taking pity on Mellectria, instead of punishing her, the female Farstrider would gift Mellectria one of her practice bows, and teach her how to shoot, maintain, hunt, fletch and make bows. Giving her an opportunity to support herself and her mother legally. Mellectria would take to the skills rather easily, dedicating most of her time to getting better via practice and hunting, using the skins to make a bit of coin.
Always seeking ways to improve her skills, Mellectria would eventually find a mentor who would teach her how to care for hawkstriders and horses and breed and birth them. Mellectria would take to that, and grow to tame and master the beasts of the Eversong Woods.
At some point, Mellectria would come across the carcass of a large timber wolf and a single pup, left cowering near it's mother's stomach, begging for milk. Taking pity upon the wolf pup, Mellectria adopted the male pup and named him Loryim, which means "strength" in Thalassian. Loryim would grow to be Mellectria's most trusted and loved companion.
Adoption[]
Receiving a letter in the mail from an unknown sender, Mellectria would eventually be prompted to seek out a Moranai Sunstrike as instructed to via the letter. Keeping the letter as a way to prove her reasons for seeking her out, Mellectria eventually was able to track Moranai down during one of her meetings, Mellectria explained why she was there and who she was. Moranai, without a second beat, legitimized Mellectria there on the spot, accepting her into the family and effectively adopting her as her own.
Legitimized: A Sunstrike[]
Adopting to the life of a noble was difficult for Mellectria, as the manners and etiquette expected of one of higher stock was much more intensive than that of a commoner. Mellectria found it quite difficult for her to remain silent during the Convocation of Quel'thalas meetings and not treat Moranai's home like like it was her mother's back in Fairbreeze. Continuing to live her life as she did in Fairbreeze, Mellectria would send most of the meat and skins back to her mother for her to survive off of, unbeknownst to Moranai.
The Return of Bidai[]
Unknown to the remaining Sunstrike's, the family had a history with a certain now destroyed Amani village. Bidai, a powerful witch doctor had made herself known, but not her intentions. Over the course of several weeks, Bidai had cursed several of those who aid House Sunstrike until she was given certain items. Mellectria herself was cursed to die in a few days if they didn't gather a few items that were requested. One of the items requested she called Book of Expeditious Exposition. Unfortunately, they were unable to open the book before she took it from them. The Sunstrikes battled Bidai, but she ran before she could be killed.
A Commando In Training[]
At some point, Mellectria would discover a firearm on one of the House's many missions. She would continue to train using the weapon for some time, in an attempt to further hone her skills, and specialize more in recon and sniping.
The Date Auction[]
Attending a date auction in Winterspring, Mellectria was signed up to be auctioned off by her cousin, Moranai Sunstrike. Much to Melle's chagrin, she willingly went ahead with the auction, eventually being bought by a random attendant for around 300 gold pieces.
Here Mellectria would meet Valythra Bloodmoon, which she would befriend. Melle, being completely bored of being at the auction after being bought, suggested the two leave the auction for a late night hunt. Eventually the two would come upon a snow hare, which Melle would point out, letting Valythra take it and offering her gun. Despite this, Valythra slipped into invisibility and proceeded to seize the hare with her bare hands before digging her fangs deep into its neck, drinking its blood and life essence.
Rather startled by Valythra's actiong, Melle scolded Valythra for her "hunting", and not showing respect to her kill. Mellectria proceeded to demonstrate her own method of hunting, using her rifle to take down an elk. Bringing Valythra with her, she showed her how to treat a dead animal with the respect it deserved. As she did so, Mellectria slipped and cut her finger, causing a continuous stream of blood that tempted Valythra. Nevertheless, the two were able to bring the elk back before parting ways. Mellectria would use her wolf companion, Loryim, to help bring the elk carcass back to the Sunstrike estate. Here she would dump the carcass in the foyer, much to Moranai's distaste. She was scolded for her actions.

This character is an AU version of Mellectria Sunstrike, hence the same page.
Kaina Duskstrider, an alias for Mellectria Sunstrike, is an active High Elven Spellbow who currently operates under her own name and has no allegiances past the Grand Alliance. Born a bastard out of wedlock when her noble father romanced a local tavern maid within Fairbreeze Village, she would grow up often times without a mother, who was hard at work trying to support both herself and her daughter. With such little supervision, Kaina would often get into trouble via stealing to feed herself. Eventually stealing from a Farstrider who wondered through town, the elven woman took pity on the urchin and taught her archery, how to fletch arrows and craft bows, and eventually how to hunt.
Becoming quite good with her bow and her other skills, Kaina would put them to use to support her mother, who would eventually grow sick with some unknown disease. Despite Kaina's attempts to take her mother to healers for healing, she would eventually bury her mother after succumbing to the disease. With no home, or real attachments to Fairbreeze Village, Kaina would join the Farstriders and serve with them up until her exile from Quel'thalas in rejection of the fel. Finding her way south, she would eventually end up joining the Silver Covenant as ranger, where she would serve until an unfortunate incident during the Argus Campaign, where she would retire from her service.
At some point after, Kaina would be found by Moranai Sunstrike, who would adopt her cousin, and legitimize her as a Sunstrike, causing her to drop her name and no longer be a bastard. There she would aid House Sunstrike as a member of Safe Haven for some time until the House was destroyed by Sanl'layn after the talks in the Convocation of Quel'thalas failed to grant them citizenry. Seeking to thwart the events that caused House Sunstrike's destruction, Moranai and Kain sought an artifact that would allow them to travel back in time. At their first attempt to utilize the artifact, the two women would find their plan go haywire. Tearing a hole in reality, Kaina would be tossed into a new reality. Realizing that things could go very wrong if she encountered this reality's version of her, she would take up the name "Kaina Duskstrider" in order to hide her identity.

Description[]
An average looking Quel'dorei woman stands before you, her dark blonde hair luscious, full and reaching down to about her middle back. It is well groomed and kept free of tangles and knots, and smells lightly of lavender. Her mane frames a cute, but not overtly beautiful face, blemish free face that almost always has a smile plastered on it. Personality[]
Kaina can be adequately described by the words salty, jaded and world weary. She often speaks in a voice that has a hint of exhaustion hidden underneath, as if she never gets enough sleep. She seems low energy most of the times in social situations, but clearly tries her best to keep up with folks. Occasionally she will get overwhelmed in large groups, and become anxious, often getting frustrated and angry. She's clearly friendly, doing her best to seem normal and bubbly, but very clearly this elf has been through some stuff.
Kaina however, is much of a free spirit. Hard to keep locked down to one spot, the Elf is always on the move or doing something. Often described as impulsive or crazy, this elf will take risks if the reward is great enough. Loyal to both herself and her friends, a strong connection to something or someone can keep this woman around for a long time.
However, this woman also has her flaws. She can quickly get overwhelmed in social situations, particularly if drunk and this can lead to frustration and anger. Often resulting in her lashing out at friends and acquaintances alike, Kaina avoids this situations like the plague. Described as brutally honest, this woman can sometimes be honest to a fault, often unintentionally hurting those she speaks to. Her implusiveness can sometimes get herself or her friends hurt, and the elf can sometimes be quite brutal.
History[]
Origins[]
Kaina Duskstrider, born September 19th, 490 K.C. as Mellectria Dawnstrider in Fairbreeze Village, was born of an illegitimate union between her father, Badamyr Sunstrike and her mother, Aredhel Dawnstrider.
Mellectria would continue to grow in her skills, supporting her mother and herself until the former become ill. Continuing to work, improving on her skills as a horse and hawkstrider breeder, Mellectria's mother would eventually pass away.
The Woodswalker[]
Without her mother, Mellectria would have nothing left holding her to Fairbreeze Village. Deciding it was best for her to cut her losses, Mellectria would take what little she owned and dedicate herself full time to her hobbies and career, becoming one with the woods. During this time, the High Elf would discover an abandoned wolf pup south of Quel'thalas' border. Naming him Loryim, Mellectria would raise this pup to adulthood, where it would never leave her side.
Alongside Loryim, Mellectria would continue to grow as a woodsman, honing her skills and her trade. During this time, the High Elf would come across a few Farstriders while trading within one of Quel'thalas' many villages. Persuading her to come with them to their headquarters, Mellectria would end up joining their order. Here Mellectria and Loryim would continue to hone their skills within the Farstriders, learning anew to replace their homegrown talents.
The Second War - Quel'thalas' Wayward Children[]
During her time within the Farstriders, Mellectria would be hard pressed to let go of her unorthodox methods of scouting and combat. Being reprimanded several times seemed to do nothing for the young elven woman, and as such, those in command of her unit in the Farstriders would place her within another unit, known as the Farsrider's 31st Recon Unit, colloquially known as "Quel'thalas' Wayward Children". A group of likeminded individuals, they were deemed completely expendable by their leadership due to their chaotic, unpredictable and unorthodox ways and usually sent on rather dangerous missions as a specialized group of rangers.
At the beginning of the Second War, the 31st Recon Unit were among several of the Farstrider units who attempted to defend their lands from the encroaching combined troll and orcish armies, leading several guerilla style attacks on the invading armed forces. As their forests burned and their villages were looted, the 31st Recon Unit and their fellow rangers were pulled back from the forests to the safety of Silvermoon City until the orcish army relented and abandoned their troll allies.
After the siege had all but been abandoned by the Horde, Mellectria and her unit alongside many other battalions and units from Silvermoon's forces would begin to lead counteroffensives against the troll armies and the orcish tribes that had been left behind. Little by little did they whittle down the Amani forces, eventually declaring victory after a hard pressed war. Mellectria and her unit, along with many others, would be awarded metals for their valorous actions during the war.
The Third War[]
Past the occasional raiding party from the Amani, Mellectria would not experience much combat after the Second War. Her time would be spent training with the 31st Recon Unit and continuing to hone and work on her skills as a Farstrider. This period of peace would soon be marked with concern over disturbing news from Lordaeron to the south. Word of an epidemic spread by plagued grain would surface, spreading through Quel'thalas.
The Ranger-General of Silvermoon, Sylvanas Windrunner realized the danger that these rumors posed and activated several of the ranger companies of the Farstriders. The 31st Recon Unit was one of several to go along with her, only to meet Prince Arthas and his undead army, known as the Scourge. Forced backwards by the unyielding tide of undead, Mellectria and her Farstrider comrades were forced to retreat.
Understanding the gravity of what was coming, the Ranger-General ordered the evacuation of several settlements within Quel'thalas, an order that Mellectria herself was a part of. Heading to Fairbreeze Village, they would systematically enforce the evacuation of high elven citizens towards Silvermoon City, just before Arthas began his trail of destruction towards Silvermoon City. Here, Mellectria, Loryim and her fellow Farstriders would fight valiant against the Scourge until Silvermoon's leadership decided to evacuate their people to the Isle of Quel'Danas.
Here, Mellectria would aid her countrymen at the Battle of Quel'Danas as an archer, like many of her trade. She would continue in Quel'Danas' defense until the Sunwell had become defiled and the elves had lost. Reeling from the battle, the beleaguered elf would continued to do what she could against the Scourge remnant in an attempt to reclaim her homeland.
A Life Imbued by Silver[]
Dismayed by the direction Quel'thalas was taking, from the siphoning of magic from other races, to the silencing of dissident by their leaders, Mellectria and the others of her unit began to grow disgruntled with their own people and their unwillingness to rejoin the Alliance. Deciding the country they once served no longer lived, they cut their losses and left the Horde and the Blood Elven people. With nowhere left to go, the 31st Recon Unit would come to be known only as "Quel'thalas' Wayward Children", a mercenary group under the Grand Alliance.
Operating under this for some time, Mellectria, Loryim and her ragtag group of rangers would fight for the Alliance across many theaters, earning quite the reputation for themselves. Notably running special operations during the war in Outland, and again during the War in Northrend against both the Horde and the Scourge, they would continue to operate independently from the Alliance, but affiliated with them. Doing this for some time, they eventually would come to be absorbed into the Silver Covenant, if only to have some form of leash upon them to prevent their rowdy behavior.
Now fully absorbed into the Silver Covenant, the 31st Recon Unit would keep their history, their traditions and their behavior (albeit a tad tempered by their new leaders) and gain new members. This new chapter in their history would ensure that the Wayward Children would continue to exist and thrive. Mellectria and her small unit would take part in many of the Silver Covenant's engagements from the Quel'thalas-Amani Conflict in Zul'Aman, to the removal of the Sunreavers from Dalaran.
The Third Invasion of the Burning Legion[]
Mellectria, having served with the 31st Recon Unit, would have worked her way up into being a commanding officer of a small group of elite rangers. Mellectria and her Wayward Children would taken part in many of the battles in the Broken Isles, from the Broken Shore to the liberation of Suramar City. Most notable of the Children's work, would the involvement in Suramar City during the liberation from their corrupt leader. Mellectria and her group would work closely with the Shal'dorei people to aid them in freeing themselves from the iron grip of their Magistrix and her evil Legion overlords. Given the code name "Kaina", Mellectria would adopt this name while under the guise of a Nightborne citizen to replace her given name, which was much too Thalassian.
Despite their heavy involvement in the civil war there, Mellectria and her crew would eventually be betrayed by one of their informants. Lead into an ambush that was not in the 31st's favor, Mellectria and her crew would suffer heavy losses, losing over a third of her rangers despite getting away. Heavily injured, and mind heavy with failure and grief, Mellectria and the few rangers that survived the Legion ambush would be exfiltrated from Suramar City and returned to Dalaran City.
Wracked by survivor's guilt and a case of post traumatic stress disorder coupled with injuries from the ambush, Mellectria was medically retired from combat duty with the Silver Covenant. Allowed to remain as a member of the Silver Covenant and train new recruits to the order, Mellectria would continue to teach and train recruits for some time until the end of the Legion's Third Invasion. With the weight of her survivor's guilt, post traumatic stress disorder, shame of failing her brethren, and her retirement from the 31st Recon Unit weighing heavily upon her. Mellectria would officially retire from the Silver Covenant just after the war ended, determined to live out her life in the forests of the Eastern Kingdoms.
Adoption[]
After some time of being retired and wandering the Earth with Loryim, Mellectria would receive a letter in the mail from an unknown sender. Mellectria would be prompted to seek out a Moranai Sunstrike as instructed to via the letter. Keeping the letter as a way to prove her reasons for seeking her out, Mellectria eventually was able to track Mellectria down during one of her meetings, Mellectria explained why she was there and who she was. Moranai, without a second beat, legitimized Mellectria there on the spot, accepting her into the family and effectively adopting her as her own.
Legitimized: A Sunstrike[]
Adopting to the life of a noble was difficult for Mellectria, as the manners and etiquette expected of one of higher stock was much more intensive than that of a commoner, especially one who had been molded by her time in the military. Mellectria would busy herself with aiding Morani Sunstrike with her secret project of Save Haven by scouting for trails and passaged to take the Void and High Elves who wanted to return, while offering her skills as a bounty hunter.
The Death Throes of Sunstrike[]
Attending a date auction in Winterspring, Mellectria was signed up to be auctioned off by her cousin, Moranai Sunstrike. Much to Mellectria's chagrin, she resisted heavily but eventually was talked into going ahead with the auction, eventually being bought by a random attendant for around 300 gold pieces.
Here Mellectria would meet Valythra Bloodmoon, which she would befriend. Mellectria, would suggest that they leave the auction and go on a hunt. Eventually the two would come upon a snow hare, which Mellectria would point out, letting Valythra take it and offering her gun. Despite this, Valythra slipped into invisibility and proceeded to seize the hare with her bare hands before digging her fangs deep into its neck, drinking its blood and life essence.
Rather startled by Valythra's action, Mellectria scolded Valythra for her "hunting", and not showing respect to her kill. Mellectria proceeded to demonstrate her own method of hunting, using her rifle to take down an elk. Bringing Valythra with her, she showed her how to treat a dead animal with the respect it deserved. As she did so, Mellectria slipped and cut her finger, causing a continuous stream of blood that tempted Valythra, who ultimately succumbed to her hunger, and attacked Mellectria. Mellectria was able to fend Valythra off via the use of her hunting knife, surviving just barely from the vampyr attack. Managing to get herself to some help, Mellectria would eventually find some help and get back to House Sunstrike's estate.
An Offer Rescinded[]
After learning of the attack by Valythra upon Mellectria, Moranai grew angry. Planning her next move, the magistrix would bring Mellectria, under the guise of a powerful illusion spell to look like a sin'dorei, as a piece of evidence as to what the San'layn really where. Accusing them of being predators and only wishing to gain citizenry in Quel'thalas as a means to gain a new hunting ground for prey, Moranai was able to rally the Convocation to expel the san'layn, their order and their ideas from the Convocation, banning them forever.
Rising Tensions[]
After the removal of the San'layn from the Convocation, there would a rise in attacks upon several Sin'dorei settlements and houses. One of which, House Solflame, was completely purged and destroyed, which was the first of many. Moranai, realizing that her house may be next, called whatever vassals and allies she had to help defend House Sunstrike in order to bolster what defenses she had. Unfortunately, it would not be enough to whether the tide of undead that would strike against House Sunstrike. Crippling their defenses and destroying their estate, Moranai would call for a retreat, and both her and Mellectria would be one of the few to survive the onslaught.
However, their retreat would be blocked by Valythra Bloodmoon. Angry over what she perceived to be Mellectria's betrayal over a small incident, the san'layn would pounce on Mellectria to enact her revenge. As a fight ensued between the two elves, Valythra would find herself blindsided by Loyrim, Mellectria's faithful companion. Giving Mellectria enough time to recover and grab her bow, the elf ranger would nock an arrow and sight in on Valythra. However, the ranger was much too slow to fire her arrow to save her trusted companion, only to watch Valythra tear the beast's throat out.
The Blurring of Lines[]
Angry over the loss of her home and name, Moranai Sunstrike spent some time in the libraries of Dalaran, searching for a way to reverse what had happened in Quel'thalas. Mellectria, herself, helped her cousin search for some bits and clues of some pathway to change what had happened. Knowing that the Bronze Dragonflight dealt mostly with time magic, Mellectria suggested seeking out a bronze dragon who would be willing to aid in them to changing the past events. Eventually finding a Bronze Dragon by the name of Arkonormu, the Timeless, the two would be dismayed to be turned away with no aid from Arkonormu.
Mellectria, however, managed to steal one of Arkonormu's scales without him noticing, prompting the two to attempt to use the magic within the scale to send them back in time to stop the sacking of House Sunstrike once they had returned to Safe Haven. Unfortunately, with no experience in chronomancy, the two would fail to utilize it and the resulting failure would tear a hole in the fabric of their universe and send Mellectria through into another reality.
A Hunter of Monsters[]
Catapulted through space and time, Mellectria would find herself tossed into a new world that looked eerily similar to her own. After a few days of attempting to understand what had happened, Mellectria had come to the realization of what had happened. Understanding that the scale that she stole from Arkonormu was the reason she had been thrown into a new world without Moranai, she began to realize that she had be transplanted either back in time or into another reality.
Deciding it was against her best interest to create any type of paradox, Mellectria would adopt an old name to use in case she came across herself in this reality. Taking on the name of Kaina Duskstrider, Mellectria would set out to see if her theory on the scale was true. Angry over the merciless murder of Loyrim by Valythra Bloodmoon, Kaina swore that she would hunt her kind and all kind of monsters that preyed upon the innocent.
The Mirstone Mystery[]
Main article: Mirstone
While traveling with the aid of her apprentice, Kaina discovered that a vampyr of unknown identity had begun preying upon the village. Though the vampyr in question never struck again, the hunters braced for the possibility of another attack. Meanwhile, the village itself discovered the cause of what the vanishing and began to panic. Realizing that this was going to take much more than just Kaina and her apprentice, Sanalellah Sunbringer. Kaina instructed Sana that it was best for them to withdraw from Mirstone in order to call for aid.
Sana, however, refused to abandon the town to it's devices and so Kaina decided to leave the stubborn woman to her choice and left to seek aid. Writing a letter to her comrade Samael Undercomb III to ask for his aid, for him to come quick from Westfall to Mirstone and then explaining what was going on. Kaina would then returned to Mirstone, only to find that it had been sacked and its inhabitants killed or run off. Determined to find the culprit of such a henious act and what became of Sana, Kaina would set off in search of them.
A New Leaf[]
During her search, Kaina would find herself up at the Tournament of Ages, figuring that it would be a good place to get work. During her time here, the woman would run into Isira Lure'mil during her walk around the area. The two would become fast friends, leading to Kaina spending most of the day and night with her speaking about Quel'thalas, archery and everything in between.
During their talks, Isira would offhandedly mention the Ashen Knights and their encounters with vampires in Duskwood. Inwardly wondering if this could be connected to Mirstone in any way, Kaina asked if Isira would be willing to introduce her to these Ashen Knights.
(To be continued....)
