Myrewood is a titled, agricultural estate on the outskirts of Elwynn Forest, and is part of the 7,000 acre Mara land holdings, which extend well into Duskwood. It has belonged to the House of Mara for more than six hundred years. The estate was granted to Renata Mara in the year 21 K.C. when she was created the first Countess of Myrewood. On her death in 46 K.C. the title passed to her eldest son, and has been held by the Maras ever since. Unlike some titled estates, Myrewood may pass through the female line.
Myrewood is largely known for the magnificent, Myrewood Abbey, a monastery built by the Maras in 421 K.C. Until just over a century ago, Myrewood's congregation of faithful was so large that it had its own diocese within the Church of the Holy Light. Today, Myrewood Abbey is home to the titular Bishop of Myrewood, a number of clergy, and an order of monks.
