Necromancy is the school of magic concerned with death and associated powers over life-essences. While not fel in nature, necromantic powers are highly corruptive nonetheless; often, users of necromancy take on the characteristics of the undead creatures they command, with deathly pallours and unholy auras. A practitioner of necromancy is called a necromancer.

The necromancy used by members of the Cult of the Damned is unique, apparently, and is detectable by such items as the Oculus of the Exorcist.

Raising the Dead[]

Necromancy is feared and reviled because of its powers over undeath. Necromancers control undead minions, which they typically create by infusing corpses with unholy energy. Necromancers in some cases are known to summon existing undead creatures to their aid from the realm of shadows.

Powers over Life-force[]

Beyond their abilities to create and summon the undead, necromancers are able to manipulate the life-energies of their victims. This power is often employed to drain away health and transfer it to the necromancer, or cause infection by supernatural diseases. Powerful necromancers can sacrifice living or dead creatures to restore health or gain power.
