The Order of the Ivory Flame is an inactive military order of peasant-and-hedge-knights, as well as other members such as rangers and priests, as well as attendants and squires. It is comprised of people from all over Azeroth of the Grand Alliance, not caring about their past so long as they forsake their surname and give away all their wealth so that they may become the common person. Currently, it is headed by the Grand Master of the Order, Sir Adalhard the Chivalrous.
Purpose[]
The Order of the Ivory Flame's purpose is to protect and aid the smallfolk, and by extension, anyone in need, of the Grand Alliance across the Eastern Kingdoms. They believe that more often than not the smallfolk go unaided and ignored by high lords, pompous paladins, rich nobles, and many others, and thus they strive to not only give away all of their excess wealth, but to help anyone who needs it. They admit anyone that they do not consider too powerful, too noble, or otherwise unfit of their specs, and require their members to wear a specific uniform.
History[]
Founding[]
The Order of the Ivory Flame was founded by it's first Grand Master, Sir Ludwig the Bold. He is a man shrouded in mystery, known only to be aged in his late adult stages and containing a passion for helping out those who are in need.
Dwarves, Mongrel Horde 2.0, and Ogres - Oh My![]
The Ivory Flame aided the Dwarves of Loch Modan who were experiencing sudden disappearances and deaths within their village's mining expeditions. As it turns out, another gathering of mongrel races - gnolls and murlocs primarily - had formed and were antagonizing these Dwarves. The Ivory Flame smote many of these parties, but wondered who had been organizing these otherwise unintelligent races. Indeed, it turned out that a disgruntled clan of Ogres were organizing these races together and were attempting to take control of Thelsamar and Loch Modan at large. Together, the Order of the Ivory Flame and Dwarves united to strike the Ogres and their foul coalition, smiting their gronn champions and killing the Ogre and Mongrel chieftains.
The Claiming of Sanctuary[]
The Order of the Ivory Flame responded to a distress call of a garrison of soldiers within the Swamp of Sorrows. They had been beset by ghastly ghosts of soldiers since passed and vile undead that were disturbed from an ancient battle. After aiding these troops, the Ivory Flame set out to find the cause of this event, leading them to the abandoned fort that would become Sanctuary. The Ivory Flame found an ancient monster and slew it, casting it's body into the sea and claiming it's lair as their own.
Present Day[]
The Order of the Ivory Flame is committed to it's duties as ever, from donating excess to whomever deserves it most whenever they are encountered, to slaying Evil throughout their travels around the Eastern Kingdoms. Recruits are accepted, trained, and sent out to do their part as equals to the rest. However, it is not recruiting new faces and is focused on being insular, dealing with itself and doing deeds selflessly.
Notable Members[]
Sir Ludwig the Bold[]
Sir Ludwig the Bold is the first Grand Master of the Order of the Ivory Flame. He is from Lordaeron and after the loss of his people, he dedicated his life to living a meager and humble lifestyle, and giving aid to whomever he could find. Eventually, he was knighted and founded the Order to help him with his ideals. Recently, he has gone missing - and the Ivory Flame symbolically refuses to list him as deceased, stating that his flame - like the Ivory Flame - will never ebb against the darkness. Instead, they granted him the posthumous title of Supreme Grand Master, so that he may never be eclipsed by any other member.
Sir Adalhard the Chivalrous[]
Sir Adalhard the Chivalrous is Sir Ludwig's second-in-command and the assumed leader of the Order until he returns. Adalhard was originally from Alterac, and his old goals were to be a good man and knight errant in an attempt to prove that not all Alteraci were evil traitors such as those who aided Perenolde in the Second War. However, he was seduced by the ideals of Sir Ludwig and has given himself entirely unto the Order. In fact, Sir Adalhard gave part of his soul in sacrifice of the Order, and even this would not stop his dedication. Currently, he is attempting to navigate through life as the Order's leader whilst Sir Ludwig remains missing.
Sir Baxtyr the Butcher[]
Sir Baxtyr the Butcher is the second-longest-serving member of the Order of the Ivory Flame, second only to the officially listed MIA Supreme Grand Master, Sir Ludwig the Bold. Though considered an eccentric and outspoken member, often treated as a black sheep by his Ivory brethren, Sir Baxtyr's conviction has never been under question. Perhaps most interestingly of all, he was the first member to really begin believing in the Ivory Flame as a religious force, and was the first to be able to conjure white flame around his weaponry (and most uniquely, his head) in times of extreme duress or combat.
