Grand Crusader Saidan Dathrohan was one of the original five knights of the Silver Hand along with Uther the Lightbringer, Turalyon, Tirion Fordring and Gavinrad the Dire. Following the Third War and the Scourging of Lordaeron he helped form the Scarlet Crusade, in which he held the position of Grand Crusader until his death at the hands of the dreadlord Balnazzar during a foray into Stratholme.
His body was subsequently possessed by the dreadlord, who impersonated him in order to control the Crusade. Balnazzar used the influence that Dathrohan had over the Crusaders to enable the assassination of the Scarlet Highlord, Alexandros Mograine, in order to further destabilize the Crusade and allow him more freedom to manipulate it from within to his designs. Under the guise, he plotted with Renault Morgaine, resulting in the murder of his father and corruption of the Ashbringer. With the Highlord's death, "Dathrohan" became the primary leading figure of the Crusade and was able to slowly transform the Crusade into a paranoid regime.
Dathrohan's body was finally released from Balnazzar's hold after he had shed his disguise and slaughtered the Scarlet Crusaders within Stratholme, raising them as his undead army of the Risen.
