The Shadowforge Senate is a unicameral (single house) body of legislative government beneath the reigning Emperor of the Empire of Thaurissan and made up of the citizens of the Dark Iron Nation. Because many Senators were slain in the invasions of Shadowforge City by Azerothian Heroes along with Dagran Thaurissan I and the secretive nature of the Dark Iron, much of their procedures and processes are yet to be discovered.

If anyone is to know what happened deep beneath Blackrock Mountain and behind closed doors, it's the former and current senators themselves...

Organization[]

Purpose[]

Given that the Dark Iron Emperor was the supreme leader and one that could not be challenged (successfully, at least), speculation exists that the Senate was forged solely to enforce Imperial Law; others take the more extreme interpretation that the Senate was but a farce, made to look as if the people had a voice---when, truly, only the Emperor's will mattered.

As reported by the Azerothian Heroes and soldiers of both Morgan's Militia and the Kargath Expeditionary Force, Emperor Dagran Thaurissan I simply mocked the invaders as they slew senators, lieutenants and emissaries left and right; shouting that "[the Senators] were just getting in the way anyhow" and showing great animosity towards his slain servants, this viewpoint seems authentic to others.

Bureaucracy[]

Offices and Ranks[]

There exists speculation that Senators held other ranks than that of a senator alone; some have reportedly served as treasurers, curators and even military officers---many of them being of the nobility as well.

Thus far, there is no proof of a hierarchy within the Senate to suggest that the connection between the Throne and the Senate was not direct: no lord-chancellors, presidents or speakers of the senate or -any- posts higher than senator have been mentioned in historic archives that yet remain.

Activities[]

  • Hand of Thaurissan
    • Recently, the Senate had approved a reorganization of this Dark Iron paramilitary and granted it far less restrictions in completing their service to the Empire. Renaming the Hand as the Fist of Thaurissan, it was clear that the Boy-Emperor's servitors were getting to work and the Senate was not going to hold back the Fist's punches.
  • Operation Blackrock and Roll
    • As a result of the debacle following the Horde prisoners' trial against champions of the elements, the Senate requested that veteran champions of the Darkforged Crusaders face the prisoners in the following trial to prove that the captives weren't getting a pass by justice.
