The Siege of Icecrown Citadel was the final climactic battle of the War against the Lich King. With the concerted efforts of the Argent Crusade and Order of the Ebon Blade, the forces of good breached the gates of Icecrown Citadel and stormed the keep. After several weeks of arduous fighting, Azerothian Heroes alongside Highlord Tiron Fordring defeated Arthas Menethil and ended the war.

As the number of champions yielded by the Argent Tournament grew, the Argent Crusade spearheaded a relentless campaign to breach Icecrown Citadel's defenses. After several days of advancing upon the Lich King's forces, the champions of the Argent Crusade were upon the very gates of the Citadel.
Breaching the gates, heroes of the Grand Alliance, Horde and The Ashen Verdict stormed the lower halls, slaying a number of the Lich King's most trusted Lieutenants. Gaining ground, the heroes of Azeroth continued their push into the upper spires of the Citadel.
After a decisive battle between Horde and Alliance forces in their respective Gunships over Icecrown, both forces groups of soldiers met up with Highlord Tirion Fordring, and after a long battle, Tirion Fordring wielding the sword Ashbringer shattered Frostmourne and ened the reign of The Lich King.
