–Sir Adalhard the Chivalrous describing why he is so polite.

Sir Adalhard Voss is an Alteraci knight who currently serves as the Grand Master of the Order of the Ivory Flame within the Swamps of Sorrows, a military faction that remains in poverty and travels peripatetically across the Eastern Kingdoms.

Personality & Beliefs[]

Adalhard, even from a young age, was always kind and affable. He ventured outwardly to meet new faces, always ready to endear himself to their tales of life. As he grew older after the destruction of his home Kingdom, Adalhard vowed to prove that not all Alteraci were bad, and as such, he became a knight-errant, traveling across the Kingdom of Stormwind to display knightly virtues. With his handsome visage and charming demeanor, Adalhard quickly earned the moniker of being 'the Chivalrous' and he took to it readily.

Never a pious man, Adalhard had once struggled with faith. He couldn't ever wield the Light, falsely believing he was weak in conviction, and thus gave up his studies in such scriptures. He could recite a chivalric code from memory, or later, his Ivory Creed, and yet, he couldn't even remember the Three Virtues of the Holy Light. However, as he served as a Knight of the Ivory Flame, Adalhard grew to worship the Ivory Flame as a religious force, like other members of the Order of the Ivory Flame.

Description[]

Adalhard is a tall and broad-shouldered knight, though generally leaner in build. His jaw is well-defined and lined under a short, thin beard. His brow is rarely furrowed, though faint creases line his forehead, either due to age or stresses of his work. A smile is never far from his lips, and his eyes always seem to glimmer with delight. His skin is sun-kissed from hours of training, fighting, and traveling outside. His hair is a tight mess of short curls with no real rhyme or reason to any styling, and is strawberry blonde in color.

It is evident that the man takes pride in his appearance, even after his near-death experience. His teeth are surprisingly white with his charismatic smile, though his lips are a faded pink. The man's fingernails might have grime and dirt under them, but only ever after training or missions, though his palms are undoubtedly calloused. He smells faintly of peppermint; perhaps it's a cologne or soap he uses.

His arms are lithe, same as his toned legs, further relating to his leaner build - yet, he holds a surprising amount of strength behind the appearance. He wears an average-sized boot, his stomach doesn't protrude through excess eating or drink, and his eyes are a pale, almost faded blue color. Despite this, they do seem to stick out against his ginger hair and mildly tanned skin.

Titles[]

Presumed Heir to Voss View[]

Since the fall of the Kingdom of Alterac during the Second War, and the extinguishing of the line of House Voss, Sir Adalhard has been left the sole surviving heir to his family's ancestral seat high up within the Alteraci mountains. It is a ruin of a castle now, inhabited by haunting spirits, and likely brigands or ogres.

Grand Master of the Order of the Ivory Flame[]

Since the disappearance of Sir Ludwig the Bold, and his ascension as Supreme Grand Master of the Order of the Ivory Flame, Sir Adalhard took up the mantle of Grand Master, and currently leads the Order of the Ivory Flame.

The Chivalrous, The Revenant, The Peripatetic...[]

Sir Adalhard has gone through several phases in his time as a knight-errant and Knight of the Ivory Flame. Initially, as a young and charismatic knight-errant, Sir Adalhard went by the Chivalrous, as it most exemplified his values and ideals as a knight. Later, after a period of instability in regards to his health and values, Sir Adalhard had painted his armor black and went by the Revenant. After, during recovery and a phase of rigid soldiering, he took up the mantle of the Peripatetic. Now, as times have settled and he is once again comfortable in his own skin, Sir Adalhard is once again the Chivalrous.

House(s)[]

House Voss[]

House Voss was a minor Alteraci noble family that owed it's allegiances to the Kingdom of Alterac. However, it's members were not traitorous, and were amongst the most outspoken of the Alteraci nobility that spoke out against the Perenolde's decision to aid the Orcish Horde. When General Hath eventually turned back to the Alliance, members of House Voss were under his command and readily repented through combat. However, Voss View is now an abandoned ruin, and Adalhard is the sole surviving member of his defunct family.

Relationships[]

Sir Ludwig the Bold[]

Sir Ludwig the Bold was perhaps the single most influential figure in Sir Adalhard's life. Sir Ludwig convinced the young knight to cast aside his youthful wiles and vices to instead take charge of a life of humility and honesty. Ludwig acted as a father figure and mentor, shaping Adalhard into the man he is today. Even in the present, Sir Adalhard is still coming to grips to the disappearance of his late beloved companion, and often thinks back on their time shared together.

Annika Cygnette[]

Annika Cygnette ambushed, shot, and stabbed Adalhard during one of his treks into the mountains of Alterac, as she falsely had believed he had ulterior motives within the contested territories. Maybe it was fate, or maybe it was simply emotions running high, but once the two had reconciled and calmed, a brief romance ensued.

The Council of the Ivory Flame[]

Many of the members considered part of the Council of the Ivory Flame are considered close brothers to Adalhard, specifically mentioning those of Sir Tildom and Sir Baxtyr, for they have served alongside him and their shared Order the longest. He would give his life, and more, for each and every one of them - of course, and the Order at large.
