The Stormwind City Community College is a community-based organization which provides learning opportunities to adult residents of Stormwind City.  Classes aim to cover a wide variety of topics to have general and vast appeal.  There is no tuition and classes are free for any resident to attend.   There is no formal registration process; all residents are welcomed to attend any class session of interest to them. It is a privately owned college and is not part of any government institution.

The college aims to offer classes once every other week on an array of different subjects.  All classes are offered behind at the gazebo behind the Cathedral of Light.  Whereas formally referred to as “classes”, most classes should instead be considered adult discussion groups being led by the assigned teacher as a topic facilitator, though students should expect to leave the lesson with a newfound skill or knowledge. Its classes are reported on in the Stormwind Daily Newspaper.

The college is guided by its Code of Conduct.

Mission Statement and Standards

The mission statement of the Stormwind City Community College is to provide an outlet through which adult residents of Stormwind City and those from other lands may gather regularly to engage in the exchange of ideas and further their personal capital through experiencing a wide range of classes taught by diverse instructors.

Every student enrolled at Stormwind City Community College is expected to treat both their fellow classmates as well as their teachers with respect.  Racism, sexism, and other forms of harassment are not tolerated amongst students.  Any student who demonstrates unbecoming conduct will be referred to the Board of Trustees.  The board will either appropriately discipline the student or expel them from the college.   Students who routinely cause disturbances will be expelled from the college.

As students are required to treat teachers with respect, so too must teachers demonstrate that same level of respect to all of their students.  Students who take offense with the conduct of a teacher should reach out to a member of the Board of Trustees to lodge a formal complaint.   Should the board feel that action is necessary, the teacher will be appropriately reprimanded or dismissed from the college.

All classes should be designed in a way which allows for their subject matter to be covered in no longer than two hours.  Throughout the class, the teacher should introduce the subject matter and provide context then allow for the students to ask questions and engage in debate.  Though referred to as the “teacher”, it is more so the role of a to facilitate conversation rather than to purely lecture.

History

The Stormwind City Community College was founded in April 2021 by Lady Rose and Arinne Knottley after Knottley proposed the idea of a community-based education center wherein residents of Stormwind City can broaden their academic horizons and social capital. Since then, the college has rapidly expanded to offer courses on art, business, cooking, culture, exercise, health, history, magic, music, nature, politics, religion, technology, travel, and writing with over twenty five different professors.

The current headmaster is Lady Rose.

Teachers

Members of the community are welcomed to join the college as teachers.  Those who register as teachers are not obligating themselves to teach any set number of classes or teach with any degree of frequency; they are merely indicating that they are open and willing to serve as teachers should their personal schedule permit and should their field of expertise be determined as one for which the college wishes to offer classes.

Certificates

Certain courses may offer certificates upon completion.  All students who satisfactorily completed the course are welcome to display their certificate. The teacher will determine which students receive a certificate following the completion of the course. A list of certificates can be viewed here.

Apprenticeships

Students are welcome to request teachers take them on privately as apprentices.  Students interested in serving as part of an apprenticeship should submit an application.  Teachers interested in mentoring the student will reach out to the student should any teachers be willing to do so.
