Surwich is a Gilnean harbor town located along the southwestern coastline of the Blasted Lands, just on the border of the Maldraz Forest, also known as the Tainted Forest.
It was founded by a group of Gilneans who had sailed to the southernmost point of the Tainted Scar following the dream of the idealistic druid Marl Wormthorn, who believed he could heal the scar. He was successful, but the forest lured the demons still present in the forest to the great tree in the depths of the forest.
Post Iron Horde Invasion
During the Iron Horde invasion, many of the residents of Surwich either hid away or fled by boat down the coast to Stranglethorn Vale. Surprisingly, the town was unaffected by the bulk of the Iron Horde forces, leaving the town and the forest intact. With the portal secure and the Iron Horde defeated on Azeroth, the people of the township have begun to return to the area to resume their lives. With Nethergarde's destruction, Surwich acts as the last remaining Alliance contact in the Blasted Lands.
