The Ivory Flame is the manifested belief of some members of the military order that is the Order of the Ivory Flame. It is theorized by outsiders to be an offshoot belief of the Church of the Holy Light, with certain pious elements taken to a fanatical extreme. Several members of the Order of the Ivory Flame, as a result of their belief, have been able to conjure a white flame around their armaments, and even body parts.

Beliefs[]

As the worship and/or belief of the Ivory Flame in it's literal and spiritual sense is largely holy in nature, so too are the ideals that the religious folk that follow it espouse. Largely, the beliefs offered by the Ivory Flame are chivalrous and good-natured, as is to be expected from an order of ordained and anointed Knights.

Like the Holy Light, practitioners and followers of the Ivory Flame are expected to be humble and truthful, never seeking to deceive the innocents they have sworn their lives to, but also not forgetting them by exceeding them in wealth or ego by power and the like. Also akin to the Light, it is common for members of the Order of the Ivory Flame to give phrases such as 'Flame Guide' or 'Flame Protect' in farewells, as members of the Order are often nomadic and traveling far and wide to help wherever, and as much, as they can.

Other ideals and practices expected of those who follow the Ivory Flame religiously is that of giving solace to the bereaved and passed, saying vigils and prayers after their passing or offering their condolences and aid as best they can to the mourning, the impoverished, and others. On the other hand, it is instilled as their duty to give inspiration of hope and firm resolution to this same population, for they must ever trudge onwards to fully enjoy life.

Militarily, of course, is another large part in the belief of the Ivory Flame. Being a military order, the Order of the Ivory Flame is no stranger to combat, and neither are it's members. In combat, some members manifest white flames about themselves, imbuing their strikes with holy fire and in some cases, granting unnatural strength or endurance against mortal wounds. The Ivory Flame teaches honor in combat, but also the steadfastness of morale and strength against one's enemies.

Tenets[]

Humility[]

The foremost tenet to be abided by those who follow the very belief of the Ivory Flame is humility. One must dedicate their lives to living as humbly as possible, so as to not forget their roots, or those they are sworn to protect. A true follower of the Ivory Flame does not contain braggadocio of their prowess or stick their nose up at outsiders, but rather, allow the slings and arrows of negativity bounce off harmlessly against their shield of faith.

Honor[]

Like the Order of the Ivory Flame at large, honor is very important to the religiously inclined followers. These members see honor as an extension of the Order's creed. Just as they are expected to be honorable to the Smallfolk and members of the Alliance as a whole, the followers of the Ivory Flame practice honor in combat, seeking to give their opponents a clean death, without mercy or remorse.

Honesty / Truthfulness[]

The Ivory Flamers are always taught to be forthright and true, and that is often followed. Without honesty, there can be no true improvement over one's misguided efforts. Without honesty, there can be no growth in one's character or situation. These followers believe that to be honest in all things is to be able to learn, grow, and change for the better more quickly than they could by trying to fit other parameters. Sometimes, however, this honesty turns blunt and harsh, and at times is considered offensive, hurtful, or downright insulting.

Conviction[]

Each follower of the Ivory Flame in it's spiritual and religious' sense is the most fanatical worshipper within the Order. To be able to manifest a literal ivory flame in combat, to be imbued with holy vigor, is no easy task. This is seen as a blessing to the members of the Order of the Ivory Flame, and a testament to their beliefs. To them, clearly, it means that the Ivory Flame values strong conviction in one's belief system, an utter adherence to it's systems and practices.

Chivalry[]

More akin to the Knights of the Ivory Flame that follow this belief, but largely shared by all followers of the religion, chivalry plays a big aspect within this system. Honesty and honor, conviction and humility, it is all connected to the actions of chivalry. Members are expected to be their best selves, whether through displaying honor on the field of battle or donating alms to the poor. Turning the other cheek and maintaining peace and honor is just as important to the Ivory Flame as defending one's conviction and morality is through combat and spats.
