The War of Iron was a battle between the Dark Iron Clan and the Ironmarch following Warlord Zaela's invasion of Blackrock Mountain. Despite both sides suffering heavy casualties, Zaela was able to secure Blackrock Spire for her remaining forces, and would have been able to to use the latent energies of the mountain to create a superweapon capable of annihilating Stormwind City were it not for adventurers ultimately ending her reign.
